Its definately come along way in a year. At Sandown 500 last year it had the 17's, GL spec, 3.9L CFI auto and elmo interior.

Now its a Fairmont Ghia spec, 4L manual, turbo :P

Lookin the goods, although I woulda kept the GTP's on!

Hi, hope you dont take this the wrong way, in my oppinion, the car in first picture looks better! (except for p plates) the second looks like bigger wheels, and they dont suit this car, far too big! looks like something off pimp my ride, ie, not a good thing! why do p platers think they need huge wheels?? ive never understood this, going for a 'ricer' look. a ricer look is good if your trying to impress others who are into that look, but i find the majority of motoring public dont like the bling bling look. its almost disrespectful. apart from that, i like your mechanical mods, its just the aesthetics i dont like, and to me i dont understand why you said "embarressing" in you thread title, i would be more embarressed with the second photo.

So by aesthetics you mean just wheels as thats all you've mentioned. I do agree somewhat, these wheels are 19" and are overkill on an e-series, 18" is the absolute maximum size wheel for an e-series IMO. No idea how you interpret these wheels as ricer tho, there a beaut design wheel.
So if he had smaller wheels on the car what would you think of it then?
How about these wheels mate?

Sorry but times change, and your way behind the times.
2 years ago i had 18's (still have them), and most people said they looked stupid and 17" was the max size that looks good.

Now the minimum 'wanted' size by most is 18". With most people opting for 19/20 if they can. (or planning on changed too in the future)
I would have agreed with you 4/5 years ago.. But not now.

These wheels looked the best in the EB, I would have lowered the car a tad more.

bling??

bro they ante chrome what are you talking about...

so i guees you'r fellings are the same with any BA/F FPV/XR that has rims bigger then 18's???

these wheels looked great on this car, the only issue was the ride height if it was slamed a bit more it would really complement the wheels.

as for 18's beeing the bigest rim for a e-series as said above mabey bk in 2003. hahahaha

the cars a work of art mate.

As I already said, IMO.
Kenaz I have to say your wheels dont look 19", I think EF/EL work a bit better than the earlier e-series that have 19" wheels on them.

As for me being behind the times, well E-Series are behind the current time, therefore dont need massive wheels, how common where 19" wheels even in 1997 when the last EL rolled out of the factory? The current cars (say BA/BF etc) are bigger, especially over the wheel arch which to me, means 19" or even 20" dont look to big on them. Just for comparison the amount of body over the wheel arches on E-Series is quite a lot smaller.

Anyway its all personal preference, it dosent really bother me if people put over-sized wheels on their car, but more times than none they'll be overkill.

What are you sorry you took? The car to the car show, or a bad photo of the car?

I was wondering the same thing
I myself would be proud to have an eb series 1 that looked as clean
Or are people looking for brownie points from mods in e-series

I like the transformation of the car. Those GTP rims suit the E-Series. Looks good anyway, always good to see where the car has come from and how much works been done to it since original pics.

Yeah, I've seen worse. There's nothing more embarrassing than turning up at a meetpoint with a smashed up front end. Now that was embarrassing!
