i got quoted $1650 from city dismantlers in Adelaide. thats a self-install kit with trade-in on auto box.

it will all fit, does your eb have smartlock or not? if it has smartlock you might need to get an ecu that has smartlock.

A manual ECU? Purely academic interest for me, just wondering whether the ECUs for smartlock cars differ between auto & manual

i'm not sure if the ea ecu will work since its pre smartlock. but you can still use the auto ecu thats in your eb now and it should work fine. i have put an auto ecu in my car just to see how it would run and it seemed exactly the same, only thing is the idle went up about 500rpm, which you can easily adjust.

Presmartlock will work in smartlock cars. Just not vice versa.

You could run your EL XR6 on an EA CFI ECU if you really really wanted to.

you can still use the auto computer, without tricking it i had the auto one in my car for about 1 year b4 i found a ed xr6 manual computer for it. all you need is the manual pedal box, clutch cable, manual flywheel, wiring harness and the middle section in the centre consol everything else yuou can use from the auto. tail sharft, transmition mount there the same as the auto ones in the ebs not sure about the ea's.

this is actually pretty interesting guys, keep it all coming - i might be able to source some of these parts for my conversion from a mate who works @ mt barker wreckers

i cant imagine the clutch cable/flywheel being any problem... dont know about the pedal box. Is the wiring harness difficult to source?

Smartlock won't work 100% though. You should still have remote central though.

It should be allright mate. When i had some wiring problems we used an EA MPFI computer and my ELengined/dash/interior'd EA fired up no problem.
