Default buying an escort rs200 mk2?

hi guys my names nathan i'm new to this site and am looking for some infomation...... i have just past my phase2 driving test but dont yet have my license because i am still 16. anyway i am looking to buy a ford escort rs2000 mk2 and would like some suggestions on what to look for, pro's 'n' con's etc.

Try the "classicfordforum" search on google.

It's a great source of info and the members are very helpful. There is also a forsale section where most of the cars for sale are member's cars and therefore you know what you are getting.

I can't help you with Escort info, there is a sub-forum titled "small & medium cars" have a look in there.
There are a few members on here who own Escorts and i'm sure they will reply with some useful tips.

Spotting a genuine RS2000 in australia is as easy as remembering 2 numbers. 11918 and 11938. These are the model codes for the 2dr and 4dr RS2000s. Other gimmes are the black door handles, and a solid metal dash in front of the passenger. Any modification, holes, trim etc along this section, indicates it could be a fake.
