Thumbs up credit to AU fairmont ghia 1 270 000KM and still going !!!

i actually seen this car yesterday , a friend bought it for his son , it is a 1999 model. looks good , no dings, origional interior, no rips, nice dash.
this car has had suspension done 3 times, 3 diffs, 3 gearboxes and 2 engines. the thing is though , the origional VCT 6 CYL engine made
978 000km before it gave up the ghost, it is an ex hire car mainly used for transport from woolongong to sydney airport.

yep holden were right , when they said . HOLDEN DONT MAKE TAXI's !!!
that is an absolute credit to ford . and the most km's i have ever seen on a car.

thats impressive, its hard to beat a torquey low stressed engine, the straight six will be missed for sure.

Wow!!!!! That's amazing.....with that sort of driving that motor would have spent most of it's time at less than 2200rpm.

I wonder how many sets if tyres it went through!!! Haha

hi guys, a bit off topic but my little beauty a 99 forte stock standard has just clicked over 250,000k's yesterday and still goes like the day I got her new, have only only ever replaced the shocks once in all that time but I think I am due for some new ones now and springs as there is a bit of a sag, I still have the same interior and in good nick. to say the least I'm very very happy with the AU

My mate's dad drove an AU 5.0 fairmont wagon from geelong to melbourne and back everyday for a few years, and it clicked over 1,000,000 on the the original donk! I remember riding in it before they got rid of it, it was pretty gutless!

Well my 1999 Fairmont Ghia is on 135,000 kays so I can expect a lot more?????

How often did the bloke service the car??

I think the Guiness record was from a bloke who serviced his car every week.
