Default Whirring Sound In Petrol Tank

How AU'z all?

I have recently noticed a constant whirring noise in the petrol tank on my wagon when the car is switched on petrol (i have LPG as well) and the sound only occurs while on petrol. Does this mean that the fuel sender/petrol pump assembly is about to go or burn out. Has anyone that has replaced these parts had any warning signs that these parts were eventually going to be faulty? Do you guys get this sound coming from the tank?

I think its just the noise the pump makes in the wagons.

"usually" pumps start getting a little noiser prior to them failling.

That said though ... my previous ute (XG) had one of the noisest fuel pumps I had ever come across ... and it was fairly new as well.

do you use petrol about once a week? as duel fuel vehicles need to run on LPG at least once a week and use about $20 worth a month to maintain the petrol side of things such as injectors, filter, pump. if they dont get used they will start to fail, as is what is happening to your fuel pump. make sure that when you replace the pump, always have at least a 1/4 tank of petrol and that you use that 1/4 in a month. so have half a tank of petrol, run it down to qtr, then fill up again. ensures you have qtr tank at all times and your using qtr tank a month!

Normally i would probably just keep driving and have it replaced when there were really noticeble running problems with it, but as i am going to be driving interstate i might just look at replacing the fuel pump/sender this week just in case. I do admit however that i have not run it on petrol as much as i should have though.
