Default Removing petrol tank?

G'day all,I have a AU series lll fairmont station wagon and need to replace the fuel sender. There is no inspection plate above the tank,so I assume I will have to remove it.Just wondering if anyone has done this and if so are there any tips, tricks or warnings that I should know about.
Thanking you,cheers.

As a follow up to maybe help others,I have not attacked the job yet as I wanted the new sender on hand to reduce off road time. When trying to purchase the part off ford, they inform me that there were two different pumps used in the au lll wagons and I would have to pull the pump out of the tank and quote the part number so then they can order in the right sender!
So much for a Quick job!
Cheers
