Should there be wheel spacers on the AU's?
We found this on my AU today... as we are just starting to figure it out whats what on the car.

No, there shouldn't be. But one that thin is not really an issue. I'm guessing the rims are 40 offset, and that's a 5mm spacer, making the rim appear like a 35mm offset. I would take them off though, as they are technically illegal.

Thats what i thought too... is there an advantage though on cheaper rims? will it help them pull up better or anything?
Dont worry, i want to off the crap rims that are on it at a later date. (read - when i can afford them) :P

Id be getting them off there quick smart, they wont give you any extra choices in rims, but if you have a prang, they'll definitely give you a headache when it comes to insurance.

Those look like bugegred spacers anyway
Advantage is it increases the track of the car giving it better turn and what not, I'd take them off

Yeah... i want to ditch them... just wanted to make sure factory never came out with things like that on the AU.

They are a 3mm spacer by the look of them. There is no issue with insurance using these even in an accident. They are necessary on some aftermarket rims to get clearance around the larger caliper brakes. On a standard (brakes) AU there should be no need to use them except to compensate for incorrect rim offsets. In which case it is better to ditch them and get the correct fitting rims.
PS I have to use these with my rims to clear the Brembos on the TS |
