How long does anyone plan

Hi all i was wondering how many people will keep there car and make it a show car and how common can it be found

the only way my car would be a show car was if it went in a demo derby or went fully concourse

Mine is an EA. Therefore it will never qualify to be a showcar. I'm making it individual, but that's more of a hotted up daily driver than anything. It's only half done at the moment.

BTW. I'll just hold onto it for a few more years, when I'll upgrade to something better.

The XE is in mint condition, so when it's old enough, my brother and I might give it a bit of spit and polish and turn it in to a historic show car. 7 more years and it qualifies for historic registration...
The EL, nah. Gonna run that one in to the ground.

OK...*puts flame suit on*...i plan on keeping my BF for a very long time and producing it a long way down the track in historics show events etc. I know the purists will eat me alive for this, but i think each model of Ford in time will have it's merits at Ford shows purely because it is a Ford (i am sure that previously unpopular models of Fords have become popular and even valueable due to age and rarity etc) and it has a place in Fords history no matter the comparo between build quality or whether it is plastic or metal. With some TLC i plan to make this car last and with the impending loss of the I6 who knows it may just one day become rare as being in the group some of "the last of the I6's" (yes i know Orion is around the corner and BF isn't the exact last)

I can already hear lines from The Castle right now in my head ("tell him he's dreaming") but the B series is the model i am growing up with so it is the model that has the greatest impact for me.

I plan on keeping my EB for as long as i live - When i can i will get a daily but the EB will stay in the shed and have lots of money thrown at it in due time

well seeing as i got a compnay car car now i am just doping my BA for sunday drives and a show car, nothing specail on it at the moment but should have the custom audio install and blower in the next couple of years so shall make it a bit better

I plan to keep my cortina as long as I can and i'll be constantly improving it during that time

I've just turned 18 and I've already spent $12,000 on modifications and replacing things so I can't imagine what it'l be like in 20 years time lol. Always thinking up somthing new to do to it.

I spent the better part of $10k on my TX5 : The guy who bought it off me had a sweet deal until they decided to it up and AFAIK it's been crushed :(

Don't even get me started on this car though. Over $6k spent on insurance alone and it is how I bought it

We have often thought about this question ourselves. Once upon a time we decided that we would put the car back to standard when we decided to get rid of it, but now it is far beyond that and we have got rid of all the standard bits and peices, i think as long as we keep the quality of presentation up then it can remain a show car for quite a while. The only problem is i think that when a car is around for a few years as a show car people begin to get sick of seeing it everywhere thats why we like to have something new every few times (although it seems to be at every show atm) but the ideas are sure to run out and maybe then the theme of the car can change from dragons to something else. SO no plans to chenge it just yet but you never know, all depends on the next model i guess

i plan too make my BA xt a drag car because when i want too sell it will be worth jack sh!t. drop a supercharged v8 in it...all this when i have cash :( thats always a problem isnt it

I'll be keeping the Sprint at least for a while, neither of the cars will ever be show cars but just nice streeters.

already sold it once and regret it every day, i ended up getting it back in a really trashed condition, Never again!


With the VX i really dont know, i have had it for about a year and 3/4's, at the start i just neglected it and wanted to sell it, since about September i've thrown about 5 grand into it, and theres plans for more. so it will be staying for a while yet

I bought my NF fairlane on my sons first birthday. The mrs and i plan on getting a xr6t soon so the lane will be given a bit of a freshen up(347 baby) then taken off the road for a full rebuild when he is about 10 or so.
That way we both can have a TUFFNF to play with

i'll be keeping the NC forever, or IF i ever do decide to get rid of it it will be stripped and sold as bits. theres just far too much invested in it to sell it, besides, its a fun car to drive

the EA daily i plan on selling to my nephew in 12 months, where i'd like to get something fairly late model (i keep drooling at Accord Euro's)

XT wagon is already going custom with bodywork that'll be hard to undo, but for now it's staying a mild street car that's something a bit different. I still want to travel and what not so not all my money will be thrown at it.

When I get back from overseas it'll most likely become the weekend car and maybe show.

If i'm not mistaken, the car has to be original (or have same era attributes, ie. factory colours etc), over a certain amount of years old and not a daily driver? Not sure on the last one, might be like club plates?

It's a lot cheaper though.

I think I'll be keeping the AU for as long as possible, dispite not being a show car, it looks decent enough to stand out from a stock model, it neat, tidy and theres not a problem in the world with it.. dispite being a series one, and its got less than 87,000kms on it.

Without spending massive $$$ on it, My XD will never be in a show, but it may happen..
The car i want to get soon, it definately show quality and it will only improve if i had it...

i have had my XB for 20 years already and it is now in semi retirement (or maybe just getting a break) . i spent lots of cash on it in the first 10 years and it worked hard in return. i dont think it owes me anything and have no plans to get rid of it.

i cant decide really wether to give it a complete rebuild or just keep it as it is because although the drive train has been much change the body work is pretty much all original with factory paint and interior in good condition.


the grand plan for BA ute is to keep it in good condition for about 250 000km which should be about another 10 years and hopefully there will be something available that will be a good replacement.

i think its like a discounted limited rego for vehicals over 30 years old and limits you to club runs ,etc ( officialy :evil3: )

I wouldnt mind turning the EF into a tidy streeter. Run a 347 in it and a manual, tidy interior, subtle paint job and nice stereo.

Will be worth jack to sell when the time comes, but it is a fun car to drive.

My ute's here for good. I wouldnt m ind spending some more dollars on it, but the budget just doesnt allow for that right now.
