with a newfound disliking of my gli garnish and the imminent colour coding of the eb's trim, i had an idea. originally i decided that i might acquire fairmont garnish, however, while giving myself a rough impression of what the colour coding would look like, i decided to see what the gli garnish would look like if it were too. the ford badge would remain obviously but the red behind it and the whole gli bit would be sprayed:
what do you think? i reckon it looks different, but i'm undecided whether it looks good or not |

I think the colour coding looks excellent on darker coloured cars, I thought in white it would be a bit much but it doesn't look bad at all. IMO give it a try and if it doesn't look good once done, go out and get the fairmont garnish as originally planned.

Looks good but i think the red outside the badges (ford & falcon) should stay as it stems from the red line between the lights.

ive actually decided to debadge the car now (wow, all what, 2 of them? lol) so i reckon going with the first image i posted with just the ford badge present would present a better overall look. nevertheless, i did make a comparison that involves a whole view of the first pic and a merging of jaded and niko's suggestions. im liking the look of this so far as it's something a bit different sorry for all the pics, im just a visual kind of person :P |

To my amazement it actually looks 1/2 decent.
all the times i've seen it colour coded have looked REALLY bad.. but with a decent paint job it seems like you could pull it off!

I like the one with the badges left on.
An idea: Its probably illegal but what about painting the reflectors in the middle of the taillights white as well?? And put a numberplate in your pics maybe so you can see how the white is broken up.???

and i have one for sale.(fairmont to) (shameless plug)
Re: my suggestion with the red staying, now it makes above the red line look to plain. With a plate in between it may fill the totality of the white at the rear though. |

I like the 2nd one. But with the reverse lights i would get them done cleaned up (altazetta style) just so they dont stand out as much.

I'd say it's a photoshop ;) considering that in the 2nd pic he has unpainted bits that were painted in the first pic.

Reminds of those EA's that have the colour coded rear garnish, they look terrible. Your EB doesn't look too bad, but I think a Fairmont garnish would be 1000X better.

LOL.. nothin suss, great atvar. would be better as a cat though!
where in geelong are you from. ive got slimline on the front, normal on the bum, i tihnk it looks good. Normal on the front makes the plate too low to the ground IMO.

ive put the plate back in and it looks better without the red badge backing, as it looks a bit too cluttered with the red. dont worry, the plate is a normal sized one, lol, and it looks nicely enclosed within the reverse lights, and the plate itself is very white and clean. speaking of which, klawsterfobik, they do look a bit dark when placed next to the white so something might have to be done there. all this talk of slimlines on the front had got me thinking too, after looking at mine it looks kind of weird at the front being fullsize cos it hangs down below the allocated area on the bumper a bit. and jaded, i was looking at your fairmont garnish but didnt want to say anything that would deter potential buyers, cos this idea may end up looking good in the flesh/paint. however, if it doesnt and no one has bought the fairmont garnish, ill give you a yell :P
thanks for all the opinions and valid points guys, they have helped with the decision process *thumbs up* |

I saw another one of them today, 2nd one I've seen. Both were white EA's. It doesn't look to bad. I thought it was a home job though. |

the ones i've seen look VERY dodgily done... like matt paint :P
but they're all EA's and thus the reverse lights don't split it up. EB garnish seems to look better then the EA one when colourcoded *right*

That photoshop looks really good, so based on that i'd say go for it!
EXCEPT, I've seen it done (on a white ED, professionally painted) and it looked crap. IMO. My suggestion is to do what was said earlier and give it a go, then, if you don't like it you can just put the fairy one on like originally planned. |
