Where do i put the shims??

I have the dev4 sitting in the car but i have no idea where i am ment to put the shims/spacers.

I have been told to put the on the lifters but i have no idea where this is..

Can someone please enlighten me on where these are, pictures would be great.

Yeah i bought the cam off stav so no instructions, but wasn't really that hard in the end once the lifters did as they were told!@ :togo:

I have installed the cam and shims in. The lifters didnt want to come out so i thought i got it in the wrong spot, hence why i needed to ask questions... haha.

I then forced one out and cleaned the oil out and placed in the extra shims. Had a chat to a local guru and he said it was best to empty the oil out.

All in all i went for a drive (tiking lifters stopped after about 10 mins). I found out mid range torque is great fun, but not around corners in the wet! Became rather exciting!

Sounds like you got it sorted,is it very noticable torque difference?How does it idle now? Has your fuel economy changed at all?I wouldnt mind that cam in my wagon!!!!!

Im about to do 1 lifter in the wifes GHIA how hard of a job is it to remove the rocker gear and replace lifter/s.Do they all just fall out or is there a retainer in each rocker?

I got a price of $21 ea for a hyd lifter (non genuine).I might check FORD for a price too.

Torque is mostly noticable from 2000ish to redline. I can already notice it after 2 days and no tune just an ecu reset.

Idle was/is a little bit rough. It has gotten better now i have driven it more. When in Drive and stopped at lights it shudders a little and revs very low but is getting better (or im getting used to it),

And as for fuel economy i honstly have no idea sorry mate. I haven't driven the AU for a while so i can't really tell as of yet.

I haven't had much experience with i6's being honest, but i found it rather easy. I would be able to do it again tomorrow and have no problems at all. The lifters in my AU were in solid and needed a bit of effort to remove them. But once removed i emptied the oil and put the back in with no proiblems at all. The lifters ticked for about 5 minutes of driving but have since stopped and havent heared them again.

Used a modified small screwdriver ... like a spike ... and poked the lifters out from the back of the rocker ... there's a small hole in the top of them ... that's how I popped the lifters out of the rocker arms.

yeah the other way is sit the rocker arm on a socket, so the lifter will fall out into the socket, and tap the top of the lifter through the hole in the rocker arm with a nail and a hammer

Yeah, i used a small skrewdriver in the end and knocked them out. I found it the easiest way.

Ok thanks guys will give this a go,I was sort of hoping they wouldn't all fall out when I remove the rocker gear from the cam and fall every where.

Be wary though ... it can happen ... just be nice and gentle with it.
