Just a poll wanting to know how many people have this problem.
Here is a pics of my plugs car just over a year old. No issues yet other than a bit of a rough idle sometimes. http://groups.msn.com/groov3/manifold.msnw?Page=Last reason behind this pole is to judge how many cars are effected. Ive just sent an email to my local ford today but i would like to follow up with an amount of other cars possibly effected to get the issue looked at before our cars have major problems. I believe if this is the moisture and rust build up after just a year in a dry northern suburbs of adelaide there cant be much hope for the length of the engines spark plug chambers and threads for the plugs and posible performance issues. feel free to check you plugs and vote to wether your affected or not, also post pics if posible. Cheers GROOV3 |

If any Sydney Fiesta driver's here are suffering idle problems and/or moisture related problems - please PM me!
I have been talking to an ignition expert about these problems and he would like to have a look at a Fiesta for "evaluation purposes". He is in Granville. So if you want your idle problem checked out by an expert, or if you are in the market for some top quality HT leads for your Fez, here's your chance! |

well car back from the ford dealer,
about rough idle and plugs they claimed thats normal to form some rust yet he is like we found some moisture in there so cleaned everything up and they didnt say much more about it. then they also said upgraded the PCMA, they initial said if they were to adjust the idle they would charge but in the end didnt charge. also rear washer jet they took apart and said it looks fine and didnt replace it even though i said last warm day it leaked, and the guy dismised the bonnet jets leaking im like it leaks ontot he air filter box and he is like nah that evaporates. at this point didnt want to argue that when the car isnt running it will jsut run down into the engine. so in result idle is ok now. and ford did absolutly all in my opinion |

Yeah I know the feeling, Ford are good at doing Sweet FA!! That's why I've been making enquiries with other people about the Fiesta.... Even the guy at Magnecor is going to issue a TSB about the Fiesta! He knows there is something wrong with the design of the spark plug boot just by looking at photo's, yet Ford don't care about it at all and then try and make you feel small and stupid about it by saying crap like "oh that's normal, she'll be right, don't worry about it etc etc" I've learnt a couple of good lessons from all this though.... German engineering is not all it's cracked up to be - and I will never buy another Ford again, purely because they don't care about you as soon as you drive out of the car lot! I know this all sounds very negative about Ford and the Fiesta, but what do you expect!! I know what I expected when I purchased a new car and believe me, it wasn't this crap! : |

i definately dont get it
i live on the coast, its spitting distance to the water. i havent bothered checking my plugs or anything, but ive never had any idle issues, nor motor problems. hell, i dont even bother doing my own oil. it gets changed at 15k like the manual says. i say maybe some specific people got a bad car, and maybe its not a design flaw but batch problems. has anyone ever thought to create a registry of cars, build dates and specific issues, instead of firing off "ive got this problem, therefore the car is crap, and so must everyone elses"? and lets not bag out ford dealers in general either, like every other company, there are black sheep lurking amongst the flock. i had an issue with a leaking door seal, i dropped it off in the morning, came back in the arvo after work to pick it up, and it was ready, fixed and i havent had any issues with it since. so again, i think ive had a fairly good experience with them. |

I had the rusty sparkies quite some time ago.
Discovered that the spark plugs which came in my engine were the lowest quality plug available. I rung ford and told them that they were rusty, they then told me that spark plugs arnt covered under warranty and they wanted to charge me over $400 to replace them. They told me that it was a ''big job'' i simply told him he was having a laugh and hung up. I got a long screwdriver and wrapped a bit of cloth around it and stuck it inside the engine cover (whilst the spark plugs were still in, so no i didnt stick the screwdriver IN the engine lol) i cleaned it all up a bit. cleaned the leads. Bought new long life plugs for about 18 bucks each and i havent had a problem since.
