It took us a day and a half to save this ole girl.
I am a big Split Kombi fan. This is an 1958 Double door panel. I drove 6hrs to get her and then the work began and as you can see it is far from over. If anyone knows of any of these let me know. This one was headed to the the scrap heap. |

There are still plenty around but most people hang onto them to try and restore but don't get around to it or realise the cost of the parts for them.
The painted one has cost me $20 000 to get it to this and there is heaps to still go on her. But as many of you would be aware we do it for the love!! |

Best of luck. She looks like a beauty!! Loved it travelling up the coast of WA...everyone giving you the V for VW sign...least I think that is what it stood for!!

Whilst working in North East Victoria last November, i came across a yard full of VW's.
There were beetles, type 3 fast backs, combi's of varying vintage, as well as ute/drop side. All up i would estimate 50 vehicles in various condition from chassis to many complete cars. I took some pics on my phone, i will try and load them. |

That would be great to see some pics.
I have heard of a wreckers at cooma that has a few there rusting away. 60G for a ute, I have been a fan of these for many years and I have never heard of such a ridiculous price. It must of had gold panels. It was obviously something special. |

I reckon they have been discovered by another VW fan.
I have seen pictures of that high top split on the Kombi club before. It would have to be the same one, think he was from the Adelaide area if I remember correctly. Stands out. |
