I doubt it, if you comparing it to V8 XT. 470NM of torque the EL just cant compete, even the sixes can get movin after a few mods. Every other category the BA would easily come out on top, the looks is what the ELs got goin for it.

el xr8's= 170kw...

The XR will win, but in stock form not by much, less then 0.5sec down the quarter.

BA 6 = 1694
BA 8 = 1747 Probably 100-150kg heavier in each case than the EL's... |

ba6= 1694 182kw 380 nm
elxr8=1650 172kw 398 nm drove them both not much in it but i think the xr8 being a manual would've pipped it just. |

I've beaten a BA 6 ute by a decent margin, however my car is the series 2 xr8 which was 185kw/412nm also with 3.45lsd and 5 speed. The torque in the earlier model el xr8 might just get it over the line against a ba 6, plus they are lighter, so as long as your a decent driver you should win. Another disadvantage for the older el xr8 is that they had a taller diff ratio - 3.23
