This sounds good - a ford club within an easy cruise from home.
What do you guys do? Do you have regular runs? If any of you have been to a Gympie motokhana the last couple of years you would have seen my wife wheeling her yellow 351 4 speed XD around the skid pan. Nothing but fords in our yard, ranging from 1932 to a 1994 daily driver, with most decades in between represented. |

Greetings!
Gympie! Excellent to hear from you! We started about 3 years ago as 5 guys around a kitchen table. Now we have about 40 members. We meet once a month in Maryborough and have a run once a month. These might be a display at the Fraser Coast Show, a picnic in Hervey Bay, a run to Woodgate - we try to vary it. The runs are intended to allow our families to be involved - very social events where people can feel welcome and get together. The Club has everything from a '56 Mainline ute through to a brand new Cobra. The car has to be a Ford and it must be powered by Ford. Hopefully we'll see you soon - watch this area for notifications about runs (thanks to our Development Officer, who gives people notice about them).

hi there xdxr6t. being januaury and having only just started back for the year we don't have to much planned for the year so far. however as Greg said we have atleast one run a month usually with more smaller runs or events in between. we regularly attend sunday markets where we put on a display in aid of Angel Flight, which is the charity we support.

Yes we like our XD's. I am building a XD ute with a BA XR6 Turbo motor, Tremec T56 6 speed, option 6 carbon clutch and tru trac equiped 9". Front will be Phase 5 spoiler and bonnet. We hope to drive it to Lake Gairdner in South Australia in March 2009. We want to crack 200mph (320kph) with it eventually.

Daryl, good to know you are still keeping an interest in the area. Pictures would be good. You probably have heaps and know how to put them on.

yeah right, i was thinking of building a car for the wheels on wide bay sprints but she expressed rather strong objections to my being involved in any form of motorsport.

So suggest that you'll ride motorbikes instead.
Maybe that will alter her frame of reference. Cheers

i just pointed out that statistically i'd have a greater risk of being in a smash on the open road as i would on the sprint track. i wish i could say she was convinced.
i then tried the old "well if i can't build a race car i guess i'll have to start looking for a project car instead" (thinking early model falcon maybe mustang) when the sujestion was made that we could buy an old beetle and do up like the new one she has...grrrrrrr bloody women.
