For those that have Foxtel/Austar, this question is for you. (Don't know if these kind of shows are on free tv)
Does anyone else like watching shows that involve murder investigation, like The new detectives, forensic files, cold case files etc? I know it's a bit sick, but I find these shows very interesting. I normally watch them everyday, and it just amazes me how science can put away a murderer. |

No I completely understand, it's not sick at all. I love them (I especially love Murder Investigation Australia) because it is interesting to see what drives people to do these things, how they do it, how they try to get away with it (the tricks they use) and how they are caught. It's fascinating.
One I will always remember involved a doctor's blood being sampled in a murder/rape case, and he had inserted a tube with donor blood in his arm, so he could escape detection, but they took multiple samples and noticed it was getting darker and thicker as it aged, and soon figured it out. Ingenious plan though.

Well, yeah. Normal TV has all the CSI and whatnot. I like to watch them from time to time, but having so many on TV gets a bit over the top. And especially as they're all basically the same in the end.
People having a good time - Somebody found dead - Suspects get looked for - Cops get tough - Cops get in a dangerous position - Cops get even and criminal gets thrown in prison.

I use to watch it on the CI channel(i think?? i can't quite remember, but there was a complete channel dedicated to crimes and investigations) but as we don't have the complete package anymore, I can't! I would be watching it heaps, as I find it quite good too.
TV Shows like csi, etc. **** me to tears. lol |

Yeah I knew about CSI, but I'm mainly talking about factual crimes shows.
andrewts- The lengths some people go to is quite amazing. Yesterday I was watching one of them, and it involved a missing trucker in Texas. They interviewed his girlfriend. She said they had an argument, and he stormed out of the house. Well they found his body a few miles away, only though it was cut up into pieces. She was already a suspect, and it was later revealed she murdered him, by giving him a lethal dose of morphine. Because he weighed 300 pounds she couldn't get him out of the house so she tied a rope around him, and dragged him outside with her ute. She put him in a horse trailer, and cut up his body. It's fascinating how people can commit such crimes, but I love the shows. Only thing I watch now, along with Mythbusters. Quote:
My personal favourites are.. The new detectives Forensic files Cold Case files Crime Investigation Australia Cold Case files is the best (IMO), because the crimes take years to solve. Last edited by Ryan; 12-03-2008 at 05:52 PM. |

The new one on FOX8 is good, it's called Murder. They have 2 teams and they have to solve real cases, by seeing the crime scene photos and interviews with suspects, They get a chance to try out their theories in the lab and interview the mortician. In the end whoever gets the most factual evidence and solves the crime gets a donation in their name to the victims of crime foundation.

yep agree, Murder is a pretty good show. couldnt help laughing at one of the contestants this week. At the start they ask them why they want to be on the show or why they think they'd be good. One of the girls comes out with "my dad was a detective for 31 years so I figure its just natural that I'd be good at it" or something along those lines. I like that logic........

As for Crime shows, I love watching the CI channel on Foxtel but when it comes to free to air, Law and Order SVU is good! but that is fictional. Has anyone seen that show that was on SBS, how to perfom an Autopsy?? Gross but really fascinating!!

my wife loves to watch the CI channel. I think it's so she can work out a foolproof plan to murder me in my sleep...
well, i hope its in my sleep. would suck if it was while i was eating breakfast or something. seriously, watching some of these programs, i can imagine someone sitting somewhere with a notepad... "if he didn't do that, the police never would have found him".. |
