hey, after a bit of info on how to remove the kick panel on the left hand side of the steering wheel, thought i had all of the bolts..... turns out it still wont budge, is there a trick to it?

if you mean the one where the ECU is, its clipped in place behind the rubber strip that goes around the door. If you lift the strip a bit you will be able to pull it out.

hmmm that panel has the fuse box in it... i could be wrong but isn't the ecu/ecm (which im trying to get to) behind the panel between the center fascia thingo and steering wheel? i've taken the centre facia off and removed the screws relevant as well as the screw adjacent to the steering column thats extremly hard to get at. I've got an au series 2 sedan if that makes any difference.

good to have people like u around! putting a fully adjustable shift kit in. bit late now i'll have another go at it tomorrow night. thanks for the reply

Incase you don't know, the ecu retainer is held in place by a tamper proof bolt wich will have to be drilled out, I can't remember the size of the bolt you'll need to replace it.
