i've been with them for 15 years , normally they are ok , it's when things go wrong, thats when your stuffed. i had my 1st mortgage with them for 7 years , was great , never a problem and very competitive, so i got my 2nd mortgage with them because of the 1st , big mistake, they rorted me silly and ripped me to the max, took me to the cleaners , and charged all these fees, twice. i lost 4 grand switching to another financial institution, looks like the savings account is going to end up the same way.

I've been waiting 5 days for online support response to an internet banking issue - I can't select my 'from' account to make a payment to a payee. (tried 4 browsers & 2 computers)

I also just closed some Bendigo accts because they're about to hike up their fees.

Looks like bank #3 is about to get some new business!

when i worked at a particular bank about 5 years ago, a visit from the ombudsman cost about $1000. they hate the ombudsman getting involved, especially where it would be simpler to keep all their problems in-house and fix up any errors that are less than that amount. i got out of a sizeable refinance fee from one bank to another because i indicated that this fee could be illegal, i woul dbe ontaining "further" legal advice and the ombudsman could decide. they also dont need the likes of ASIC jumping on them. they always say 'no' the first time and hope you go away. dont go away, stay and fight and you can always beat the bastards.

A bloke at work organised his home loan through them. Got stuffed around for about 4 months to actually get the deal done. Lots of excuses and stuffing around and when they did finally fund it it was $20000 short of the agreed loan! Was lucky he was buying a family home not through a normal sale.

still they have not resolved this problem . the ombudsman address in post 2 . is melbourne. i searched for a sydney one did not come up. do you think they are only in melbourne . does it matter if they are in melbourne and i am in sydney?

it's time to fry them now.

My son made the mistake of doing business with St George. My advice.... switch banks.
