Hi all. Just got my car back from Strapp Ford in Doncaster. Had to go in cos my engine light came on (but not flashing) they sorted the fault code out and cleared it today no troubles, happened to be the O2 sensor. They suggested it may be the 'non-genuine' filter (K&N panel filter) that may have caused the fault.
Just wanted peoples opinion on whether they think this could cause the problem, as the panel filter has already been in for at least a couple of thousand km's, maybe three, and i've had no troubles till now. I guess they just need to rule out everything to assess whether its the O2 sensor that is faulty, even though they did pass it today. any help would be appreciated. cheers jim |

I put my K&N in, in the first 100km. Now past 33000km with no issues.

I've had mine for a while now, nothing. Only engine light problems were the ECU reflash and the screwed spark plugs and leads.

there's no way in hell that the change of filter would through up a code.
If there is nothing else playing up, it'll be the o2 sensor.

just replace the filter back to stock when you take it in and they cant do anything about it.

thanks all. drove home from uni today, and low and behold.... guess what came on. about half way home, the poor fez was struggling at low revs for a good 3 kays, sounded like the pressure was playing up. So i guess its gotta be the sensor. booking it in again for tomorrow hopefully, Bit of a bummer. happened on the exact same day too.

girlfriends 05 zetec had this issue, turned out the o2 sensor wiring had rubbed through and melted on the exhaust. about a month later, engine management light come on coinciding with engine dropping a cylinder, turned out to be a coil pack...... both within 3000km of the 75000 warranty expiry period!!!
