Default WP Wheel stud/nut thread size?

Hey guys, does anyone know the thread size for the wheel studs/nuts on the WP's?

I just got a set of 16" MP3's that i want to chuck on the car tonight, So i new to buy a set of nuts on the way home from work today and won't be able to take a nut off to check in time.

i found a post that says they are 12 x 1.5mm threads with a 60 Deg taper.
Anyone dissagree before I blow my dough?

Thats right, 12x1.5, same as a commonwhore

Thanks, One thing that is majorly different though is the floating washer on the Ford items. There is alot less surface area on the "aftermarket" type 12 x1.5 nuts where they sit in the actual rims.

I've got them on the car now, but i'm going to get a set with the floating washer to play safe, anyone got a set of MP3 chrome nuts they want to part with?

Floating washer? So they're not tapered nuts?
If they're 'shank' type nuts it doesn't matter how far inside the wheel they go, as long as they fit the hole snugly, and the wheel locates on the center hub properly they're ok.

I see what you mean, although IMHO normal nuts will, be fine, the main advantage of the washers is that they will align the wheel a bit better.

They non washer nuts hold the wheel on fine (though i'm going to take a rim off and double check today). However they do seem to slightly dig into the rim when they tighten up.

If the rims had inserts for the nuts then they'd be fine,but they don't, hence IMO the need for the proper nuts, as the washer will stay in one place without digging into the rim when the nut tightens up.

I'll take some pics while ive got it apart.

Well that "today" i mentioned back in febuary only happened today and i can tell you for sure that 60deg taper nuts are compleately WRONG for the factory ford MP3 rims.

A rotational nosie started in my front end during this last week, so today i jacked up the car to investgate. Reefing on the wheel i got no nociable movment. I tried to get the noise by spinning the wheel, but nothing. So i took the wheel off to check the brakes and the wheel nuts had indeed dug into the rim a little, but to my amazement far worse than you'd imagine.

On top of the scrap marks from tightening the nuts, three of the holes for the wheel nuts on the rim were worn to the point were you can see the hex of the nut! :togo:
The forth hole was ok as it had the lock nut on it, which was still the wrong taper, but had a much greater surface area. I think it was worn just enough that the wheel was starting to move when it had load on it (but not when i reefed on the rim), which would explain the wear being the shape of the nut. And before anyone asks, yes the were all tight when put on.


The nuts i bought from the UK have a steeper taper on them (plus the washer previously mentioned), the taper is maybe another 5deg? at a glance they look the same, but when placed taper to taper they are not the same.

Anyway, i changed all the other wheel nuts too, the other side front had signs of doing the same, but not as bad, and both the rears only had the rub mark from where they had been tightened up. I think the front just copped it from the extra loads on the driven front wheels.

Oh well, i had bought the proper nuts thinking something like this might happen, i should of made the time to put them on earlier, luckily the damage was minor. :
