Default Confused; Standard Sound & Premium Sound

As the title states. I am confused as to what differences there are in the two.

People keep saying Premium Sound. What the hell does that mean?
I just recently upgraded my cd player to a 6 cd stacker, my ICC was broken and had to get that replaced. However the LCD screen is now GREEN and not matching the rest of the LCD's in the car. What can I do? It looks stupid like this. Suggestions would be GREAT. Thanks in advance.

hi

Base model sound is single cd with small screen.
Prestige Sound is when you have a 6cd indash player with small screen
Premium Sound is when you have a six indash with color tft screen where you can few kits to it, eg dvd player on the screen, reverse camera etc...

in your case you have a prestige sound. Iam assuming you have an XR therfore ur ullumination should be blue and grey, however the ICC u upgraded with belongs to an SR XT there for you have the Green illumination, you been supplied with the wrong ICC.

if you wish to fix this problem please contact us 0397991444 to arrange a changeover or even an upgrade to a 6cd indash premium sound with the color screen with the right illumination $1100.00 all inc.

cheers

Hi Fadi,

I have a 2007 BFII Fairmont with dual c/c, 6 stacker, 6 speaker stereo and green illuminated ICC.

I think this is prestige sound?

Anyway, the sound quality is crap. My previous car was an AUII Ghia with premium sound, and the sound quality was superior to this thing.

What is involved in upgrading to premium sound, which I understand includes the 150w amp?

I'm not interested in colour screen, sat nav, or any of that guff, I just want to improve the sound.

I've already looked at a third-party amp and speaker setup, but I would prefer to keep it all Ford OEM if I could.

I understand I would have to buy speakers to cope with the extra power levels, That's OK.

I'm wondering if the stereo component of the centre stack can be upgraded in isolation, or do I have to buy the entire centre stack.

Does the dash mounted stereo unit itself include the amp, or is it a separate item that has to be mounted somewhere else as was the case with the AUs?

Cheers,

hi

to obtain the best sound you doo need to upgrade to the premium sound in your case where we can add a dedicaded RCA's for sub woofer/ amp and remote wire to retain ur one hour keyless play. therefore this will allow you to add bigger sub and amp. in ur case to upgrade to t he preminum sound is $1100.00 as a changeover plus $220.00 for the rca mod.
for any more info please do call us on 0397991444

cheers

OK, I'll probably have to ring you because this is all getting a bit confusing for a non-technocrat like myself.

But anyway, I have some questions that you could maybe answer before I call:

1. When you upgrade from prestige sound to premium sound, do you have to replace the whole centre stack (including LCD) or do you just replace the stereo bit on the back?

2. Will premium sound improve radio reception at all?

3. Does the premium sound have a total power output of 150 watts RMS (37.5 x 4), or is it something else, or do I need an external amp for the whole thing to work, hence the RCA plug mod.

4. Would the amplifier that would plug into the RCA plugs power front speakers, rear speakers, front and rear speakers, front and rear speakers + a sub, or just a sub on its own?

5. What warranty do you provide an exchange premium sound systems?

6. Is the warranty affected by the RCA plug mod?

7. I have 2 years of factory warranty left. How would the factory warranty be affected by putting in an exchange unit?

8. I was about to get my local Ford dealer to install a bluetooth kit. Should I defer getting this done until the premium sound stuff is installed.

9. I'm in Sydney. You're in Melbourne. I will probably be in Melbourne in June. If I bring the car in can you do this stuff while wait?

I know I probably sound like a royal PITA, but I just like to get my facts straight before I commit something.
