That's what I was going to ask. Also, is there a specific brand to look out for? We are talking about a possible safety issue here, otherwise a bunch of washers would do the job.

Are you talking about changing the offset - AU/BA mags on E-series +35 offset? Apparently the bolt on ones are legal, but floating adapters aren't. I'm keen to get a hold of some too, as I want BA Fairmont Ghia 17's on mine!

Ps stockstandard, thats a mad avatar!!

I assume because he said bolt on spacers that he is talking about the legal ones that bolt to the hub and give you a new set of studs. The best ones I have seen were at Tyre Power Parafield. They had been engineered approved and completely legal.

The spacers that you stick in between the rim and the hub - very dodgy. I am not sure if they would even work with AU-> rims onto e-series if you are going for the correct offset cos you would neet 40mm of spacer and there wont be much thread left to hold a bolt on.

Have you got a pic mate? I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

they look like this (these are not the actual ones - just the first pic of a hub adaptor I could find)

They are legal and not dangerous because they are properly attached to the hub and dont put any extra strain on any part of the suspension.

Oh! Now I'm with you. Wouln't that make the wheel sit way out in the guard?

thats the idea. If you just bolt an AU wheel onto an e-series it will set way in the guard because there is 40mm less metal where they bolt on. These add 40mm of metal to your hubs so that when you bolt the wheel on it sits in the right place.

Alot of the Jap imports places supply them.

Theyre used a lot more commonly in Japan as they like to play around with offsets and massive wheel dish over there.

Thers still the old naysayers here who'll tell you that anything other than stock is a rolling eathtrap though and that youll die if you put hub adapters on lol.

Try AdelaideJap http://www.adelaidejap.com.au

or any other wheel/tyre place although some will take an under-the-counter approach since it is a bit of a gray area.

they only reason i wont use them is because insurance says no,
if i had an accident and they found out, im not in the financial position that i could afford to have them not accept the claim.
they are perfectly safe though......
