Default back tyres..

hey all..

anyone got 255's on the back of their ea-d?

i have 225's on there at the moment sitting on a 8" rim, so i'm pretty sure i can go to 255.. but will it fit, or will i get scrapage?

thanks,

santo

I have had 285's under my EL, on an 18" rim, and am looking at going to 19's off the DJR cars, with the 285/30/19

my rims are 16x8.. im lead to believe the rims will be no problems with 255s.. we just lowered my mates vl, with 225's on the back and it has severe scrapage on the sidewalls.. idont want to have anything remotely like that..

255s look tuff as nails.. pwoahh.. sexy

lol

i was running 18x8's on my ef and with 245's over bumps it would slightly rub on the tyre, but thats also due to the fact im running ultra low springs, i solved the problem with 235's :hihi:

We should be putting 255's on 18's next time we replace the tyres. I have been told it should fit fine, and by the sounds of the massive tyres you guys have had, i shouldnt have any worries lol!

It all depends on the offset of the rim, but I've seen an EA with 265's and superlows that never scraped the tyres.

255 tyre will fit on a 16x8" rim nicely

As Rollin has mentioned My 265/35/18's on 18x8 rims with superlows scraped only on the most uncomfortable of bumps. Nothing to write home about, I'd usually only notice it with 4 people in the car or lots of petrol or both. It now doesn't scrape at all and I can't notice any wear to speak of. Mine's an EL however.

Hmm interesting thread..I need to kill my box retreads that I got with the car.

Santo ive got the same exact dimensions as you. At the moment Im running 225/50/R16.

Is there any harm in having 225 up front and 245 or 255 on the rear? Is it worth it?

Ok guys with 255's or bigger, can i get some shots from behind of your cars (Esp yours Ignition). Currently i run 235/45/17 and mt 17x8.5's are are the most anemic tyred rims on the planet. I was thinking 275 however tyre places seem reluctant to put more than 255 on the back. I see that some of you are running 265/275 on 8" rims and 295 on 9" rims. I have 8.5" rims so im assuming (if my offset is ok) that 275/285 35/17 will be fine on the *** of my car (EL Fairmont with Superlows).

Sorry for the delay. I've got a few pics which may give you some idea of what the 265s look like. IMHO they don't do them justice. They look much wider from behind when following in traffic!

The rubber is wrapped around 18x8" Advanti Victory rims.

I managed 2.197 60" times with them and that's going easy. There was more grip in them but I didn't get a chance to try a harder launch. Considering the punishment I'm giving them they're lasting really well!

that final picture of !Gn|T|0ns doesnt do those 265's justice...

i think he got offered a role in the council's department of roadworks... to replace the steam rollers... in the flesh those tyres look awesome...
