Ok sorry for this not being really a car problem but its a problem in my EA.
No matter how god damn hard I try, I cannot fit the stereo into its spot properly. Everything is there screwed it but for some annoying reason, the stereo tilts backwards so it doesnt sit at the right angle therefore causing all but one speaker to work. It works when you hold the stereo straight with your hand but as soon as you let go, it falls back and all the speakers just stop. This problem has been shitting me for the last few months. Luckily I am only 16 and don't drive often enough for it to kill me with frustration. I dont know/think anyone would be able to help me here because its such a stupid problem to have but I cant think of where else to turn. The stereo isnt the standard one it comes with its a cd player that has been fitted by the previous owner. If I cant fix this soon I really will go insane. Please suggest something I'm desperate |

if the sounds cutting out when it tilts the most likely problem is that one of the speaker wires is shorting to ground. Brands like Sony etc stop playing when the speakers earth out. Pull it out and check the wiring...it sounds dodgy. To get it mounted properly, the previous owner should have used the factory radio brackets, just modified them a bit to suit. It's a bit hard to say what's wrong without seeing it...

I agree, something is shorting out
- make sure any taped together joins are not pulling apart - check the insulation on all the wires - make sure the plug is pushed in all the way Try to replicate the problem with the head unit out of the bay. If it won't shit itself in the open, it is most likely what matt6n said - a short circuit somewhere Panda

It means you replied on an old thread that is probably now resolved by the original poster
