Anything over 200,000km ... the price drops through the floor .. you probably won't even get the $8K really. I know it is sad unfortunately.

Now that that the FG is out ... it makes B-series even cheaper ... making the AUs dirt cheap.

The problem you have here is that the car no matter how
much you spent on it is worth sweet fa in the reality of
things to a car yard.
In a lot of cases it is what they can wholesale it for.
Pay no attention to Redbook values as at the end of
the day Redbook doesn't buy and sell cars.
I know it hurts to be told ya pride and joy is worth very
little but the caryards are there to make money.
Your ute would retail at about 8-9k in an honest yard.
To get that they would have to roadworthy it. Say that cost
them 1k. To advertise it would cost another 200. Pay salesman
100 commision on sale. Warranty 700. So if they paid 3k for
it the ute has already cost them 5k. If it sits in the yard for
3months by the time you calculate intrest into
it...... still haven't taken into account Detailer, electricity, rent, phone bills,
licencing. They really in most cases aren't ripping you at all.
As I say to alot of people you are far better selling privately.

I have a figure of 18,000 in mind for my ute when it goes up for sale (which at this stage may be early next year if not late this year). Reckon thats realistic? 80,000kms on it.

Big car yard in adelaide was going to give me $5000 trade in for my 99 AU XR8 to buy a $35,000 BA MkII XR8 with 40,000, I said *%$# that and decided to spend some more money on my 8 and keep it. If you like your car and spent a fair bit on it and for it (I paid just over $30,000 for mine in 2002) just keep it and enjoy it, its too much money too lose unless you don't care...

Thats my 2c anyway...
