My AU has this damn ticking noise coming from the front when it's running.
It is coming from under the passenger side headlight, it sounds like it's behind the bumper or up under the front edge of the wheel-arch. A had a guy have a quick look at it, and he reckons it was coming from a black box under there, which he suggested could be some sort of vacuum controlled box or possibly the ABS module??? Who knows... Anyone have any suggestions or know what this is? |

is it a v8?
if so it is the purge valve. its nothing just turn the radio up. all the AU v8's ive heard have done it.

its the purge control valve or something its very common i have a 01 xr8 at first i thought it was major but its normal ive heard a way to fix it is to wrap a rag or something similar like a sponge around it i even went to ford to buy a new one but even they could not promise it wouldnt tick.

 it's a bit annoying (interfering with my V8 burble) but as long as it's not unusual or a real issue, I can live with it.

From memory, just take of the undertray and you will see the purge valve solenoid most likely sitting against the inside of the wheel arch or inner guard. Just cable tie a car wash sponge around it, problem solved.

Yes its meant to be suspended in mid air by it's connecting hoses; if not and it's touching any bodywork you will hear it.

I know its probably not related, but i have a ticking sound fromy my front aswell. It has something to do with my air-con. Once the AC is switched off, no ticking. I don't know what to do about it.
