This is a great ad. About time Ford grew some balls. They have a great product range but poor sales.

I emailed Ford several months ago, suggesting that they attack the opposition by providing FACTS about the models and how they are better than they're competitors. I feel they might have actually listened!

Toyota and Holden continually bag out Ford (albeit not always directly, but more so in the latters case directly) and so Ford should return the 'favour'.

Whatever the class, Ford should highlight the strengths of their vehicle and negatively position the leading 3 competitors in each segment.

Ford NZ latest marketing idea for the FG

Quote:
Airport To City Centre In A New FG Falcon Please - And I'm Driving
Tuesday, Sep 02, 2008

The monotonous trip from the airport to city centre just got a whole lot more exciting, thanks to the new Ford FG Falcon. For the next two weeks, travelers arriving at Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch airports can choose to drive in style to their destination in a new FG Falcon.

By booking online at www.travelfirstclass.co.nz or by calling 0508 FIRSTCLASS, travelers arriving between the hours of 7am – 11am or 4pm – 8pm at Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch airports can be met by a Ford representative and a new FG Falcon ready to transport them to their city centre destination.

The promotion run by Ford New Zealand aims to encourage consumers to test drive the vehicle without encroaching on their personal time. As Chris Masterson, Marketing Manager for Ford New Zealand points out it’s a lot more exciting than sitting in the back of a taxi.

"'Time poor' is a term we are hearing more and more of at the moment. For frequent travelers the transfer from airport to the city is wasted time – we've now provided the opportunity for consumers to maximize the use of this time and test drive the new FG Falcon," says Masterson.

"When consumers get behind the wheel of the new FG Falcon they love it. Who wouldn't like to drive a stylish new G6E Turbo from the airport to their destination."

The FG Falcon was launched in New Zealand on 1st June 2008 and has sold over 1,000 units since launch. Last month it was awarded a five star ANCAP rating making it the first ever car produced in Australia to receive this accolade.

I don't understand why they didn't also mention that the Corolla does not even have ESP standard, or as an option on any model. Should have stuck the boots in there.

Maybe some competitions such as Mazda have every year which the winner gets to drive various Mazdas around the Broadford track. All I had to do was write a few words about their range and next minute the wife and I were driving their best products and also got a hot lap with Dick JOHNSTON in an RX8.

Also they need to discount, incentives like Holden have with fuel offer is only worth around $1500 in reality, but sounds a whole lot better. And market the hell out of them.

The greatest issue I believe Ford have and will spell their doom, is that those truly in control are in the USA and don't care.

I was at Winford (my local) with my 2.2 yr old BFII Ghia, getting a 390K service).
I am a slightly overweight 40+ male in the IT profession.

You would think I am a prime candidate to rollover my lease (Ford Credit) onto something new.

I asked if they could drop me home in a G6E.
They could not (there were two registered on the Lot)

The receptionist who dropped me home in the Focus commented that she had gone to the Dealer Principal and asked if they could give her some FOCUS brochures to hand out in the Focus she drops people home/station in - she said they did not do this.

She had also been declined when she asked for a Clean New demonstrator be regularly available matching the model/spec of the car being serviced - Kinda makes sense to me.

Now they have demonstrators, of many models - why not use the 'lift home' as a sales pitch ?

FORD - you need to fix your dealer network.

Unbelievable! This is the first priority for Broadmeadows to fix, IMO. I would love to see the media field day caused by Ford Australia suing all the dodgy dealers for bad representation! Can you imagine the turnaround in customer satisfaction, on a national level?!?

On a positive note, the new Ford Aus head honcho has publicly stated that Ford need to work on their marketing - that admission is a great start!

Mixing some decent tech stats with BFT style could be worthy?

i didnt get to read all these posts but they seem prety good especially the first one. i think simply they should at least focus on the falcons ability on factory gas option, to have better or equal fuel ecconomy as a corrolla. Thats a huge marketing angle seeing as the car is bigger faster safer by a country mile an yet as cheap to run.....go figure ford

Never gonna have better fuel economy. The motor's twice the capacity

It should be cheaper to run than a Corolla. My EL on dual fuel is cheaper than an '02 1.8L Corolla and is cheaper than our '06 Peugeot 307 2.0L Turbo Diesel. A car that consistently returns 6.5L/100kms and the Falcon is still cheaper to drive.

That's what I believe Ford should be doing is touting the LPG option. It's cheaper to run and in these times of rising fuel costs, why not advertise that?

It really does not take much to come up with a great ad with three Ford Bathurst win in a row.

OK, I'll Give it a go.

Edit any of the existing Finger Ads
Ensure reference to 5 star NCAP is there.
Add a still, or 2-3 sec video clip of the victory scenes of each year evenly spaced in the ad. (3 one for each year)
Make no reference to the races in any other content of the ad.
At then end put the 333pete shot from the Ford Website (no sound), then the Ford Logo

Maybe they could have some sort of 3 deal going (just tie it in with their existing deal).
Like 3 extra's on a standard car (I know they're throwing in extra's in regular models). Or a special price on 3 models (Falcon, Terri and Focus).

Just play on the number 3. At least they could celebrate the victory and advertise the models at the same time.

Just a thought.

Question Commerical Ideas for FORD

Lets hear some ideas that Ford can use in their advertising.

Ford have just won Bathurst for the 3rd time and still no commericals to tell Australia.

How about an ad showing the winning car going around Bathurst and then transforming it into a road car while adding how good the Fords perform.
or
Stating that Ford is the longest car manufacturing company is Australia.
or
That it has the best towing capacity and uses lest fuel the the bomberdore.

For me I feel that the Ford ads lack passion so lets have your ideas.

also another thing ford should try selling more...

who cares about litres per 100km....

$ per 100km is what the real measure is...

e-gas falcon so much cheaper to run per 100km who cares if it uses 13litres per 100km instead of holdens 10 in the omega (all examples not actual figures)

when gas is 1/2 the price of petrol!

even though there is already a thread for advertisement ideas for Ford to use as long as they give me the new Falcon or a few weeks use of a FG FPV GT all expenses paid for my idea

they could have lowndsey in an XR8, with some decals on it, sprinting down a road with obsecured cars that look like commodores, behind him, breaking down and crashing, he pulls up in the pits and gets out like it was the easiest thing in the world (although this short sells bathurst as a race) and in his pit is whincup playing xbox and a pile of trophies (the hat trick win), then they could do a quick CGI where every falcon that ever raced morphs into the newer model until the new FG from outside the pits - and sub titles of the great achievements or milestones each model was responsible for ... ie FG - First Australian built car with the highest 5 star ANCAP rating

then it cuts straight to a studio door, where it says "NEW FORD AD PREVIEW SCREENING" .... then a lion walks out with a red bottom (like the other ad they did)

"Ford Falcon built for Australia, built to win, built for YOU" or some other moto that has meaning

Ford i only accept cash payments

Advertise with what? Money? Ford are flat out paying the bills right now. There is no advertising budget. They spent what they had on FG and it didn't work. Game over.

I was waiting to get an x-ray done today and noticed they only have chick mags....but nothing for guys.
So an idea popped into my head that Ford could do a one off magazine with reviews of all their models, have celebs that drive these models, etc. And send out a copy or two to all the medical places that have waiting rooms where people may spend a bit of time in.
At least Ford would get the brand awareness of their models out there, lets face it when your waiting for a doctor any old crap seems good at least this would get into people's subconscious.

I reckon there is some chance ford could take that one up - it fits with the target market, and would be cheap.

May be a challenge getting the dealers to go 'cold calling' on waiting rooms.

Perhaps we should volunteer for the job.
I would do it for two days for two free 17 in 7 spoke stock alloys (to match existing)
