would a manual computer out of an eb falcon/fairlane work for an ef xr8 when doing a manual conversin

No it won't for a few reasons,
The EF eec has a 104 pin plug and the eec you are looking at in that link uses a 60 pin plug. If you REALLY wanted to get messy you could convert your loom to run the EB eec but then you'd lose control of your heater, and thermo fans.

It would also have to be a V8 ecu too. I think it would be better to use the existing ecu and use the resistor so the trans is set permanently in drive.
