Problem when starting my XR6

Hey All,

Has anyone come across the problem, that when you try to start your AU that the starter motor will turn but it won't fire?

Then you leave it a few seconds start it again and it goes first time?

Could a bad earth on the engine cause this?

Also what do people think of PBR clutch kits? My throw out bearing went bang on the weekend, so I am getting a new PBR clutch kit installed at the same time.

for a standard car they are ok, I have one in mine, sounds like your starter motor might be cactus

My XR8 did this. Its the strangest thing. You get in the car in the morning and turn the key and it just kepps turning over but won't start. Then you turn the key off and back on and it fires straight away.

Mine turned out to be the throttle body. It just needed to be cleaned.

Once cleaned it fires straight away.

If the starter was cactus then it wouldn't be turning over in the first place.

But the original poster said the starter is turning. not the engine. It could be a case of the starter motor not throwing the gear onto the flywheel every time.

Might need some ignition coils... better put ya name down on the list for a possible group buy ;)
