Default Farewell AU

We obviously missed the Christmas run and were a little bummed about it. Unfortunately, a combination of "pressure" (we were happy to oblige) and excitment meant that we spent the weekend getting the AU ready for sale and then not tempting fate by driving it too far before we traded it.

After the meeting on Thursday night I did a search on Carpoint before going to bed. I stumbled across a good deal in BrizVegas and sent an enquiry, not expecting too much. The car was a colour that we hadn't considered.

As I was backing the XW out of the garage at 7am, my mobile rang - the salesperson. We talked for a few minutes and he undertook to call me at school after 10. I gave him the details of the AU and he said he'd work out a change-over.

He called at 10:15 and we struck a tentaive deal at 10:16 - they had to OK the AU and we had to OK the BA. It's a 2004 GT-P.

So, we travelled down on Sunday. On Mon. we went to DOT and took the personaised plates off, then went to Metro Ford and fell in lust. He started it and that was the end for me.

So, it's done 70K and has:
- SS cold air induction.
- extractors and quad pipes.
- premium sound.
- sun roof.
- brembo calipers, but the lst owner upgraded to Brembo rotors as well.
- big mouth filter.
- new tyres.
etc etc etc

It's an intoxicating, inebriating, wonderful package. I can see why people have raved about them. Helen loves it and now can't imagine having a "normal" car again.

Cheers

They're parked side by side at the moment!

XW, "Tart!"

BA, "Fogey!"

The XW has raw power, the BA has technology. Alarmingly, the XW has 260KW at the tyres, the BA 290 at the motor, plus whatever has been done to it.

The BA is sophisticated, the XW has character.

They're nice cars to have in the stable together.

Cheers

Not that I miss it - we really loved it. The Tickford driveline meant it was a real sleeper. easy to drive and it loved long distances. We drove from Dubbo to Maryborough in one day and it ate up the highway. That, and getting 700k or so from a tank was awesome.

It was a great car that was perfect for us.

Had a look at your car too - very nice. I wasn't familiar with that release. Your doing agreat job with it!

Cheers

Was in love before - the events of the last week have just confirmed that I made a wise choice 17 years ago.

:

Since the famous incident of a month or so ago, when we both were cordial infused at the same time, she stated that she was sick of me having the hot car. She wanted something "cool" - a GT or an XR8.

When a GT-P came up at the right price she was on board straight away.

Of all things, what does she talk about the most? The lateral supports on the front seats and the adjustable pedals. Fair enough.

Good luck with your vehicle hunting, btw.

Cheers

Hi Greg. I haven't been on the forums for a while and look what happens. I'm impressed. The colour is great, we will be able to see you easily on the runs. Had a pretty good day on the Christmas run. Bit on the hot side for some so we may have to start looking for air con venues next year. Something to talk about. When do we get to see the G.T.

hey there greg, congrats on the new baby, as everyone else has stated she looks tops. i still think the ba fpv's look more aggressive then the later models.

i second your thoughts on the AU being a superb highway car too, we recently travelled 13 hours from NSW central coast home to Wondai and could have easily done a few more hours. but i'm sure the GT-p will be more comfortable, just remember to keep an eye on the speedo.

Well done Greg! Looks great!
I ran into the little lady in the shops the other day and she had a massive grin on her face when she was telling me... it's important for the minister for war and finance to approve of awesome vehiclular purchases!
