Question talkin about insurance

Hi guys guess what?
its that time of the year again
yip while my insurance co. send me a bright and shiny red sticker
to recognise my driving excellence.

my cat is a year older and yet the self same company want to slug me a
$100 raise in my premium and up my excess.

it makes no sense eh?

I was doing some shopping about Shannon have quoted a saving of 30% on my premium and at a reduced excess. and a higher agreed value. 14K

wondered if others had any words of wisdom on this subject.

Don't worry about the Falcon owner above, jealousy of a hot 8 year old car will do that. I haven't had an issue with my insurance so far. And also, welcome to the forums! GOod to see another Cougar online. Judging by the pic you're a Victorian? That will make 2 or 3 of us on here! Everyone else seems to be in bloody NSW :P

ha ha ha - well what can I say ?
340 a month for ins. and 200 a week for fuel to push that tank along the bitumen.
mustn't leave much left for the lady in your life.
get yourself a Kitty and show her real a good time. LOL ( sorry just stirring )

I wasn't asking for a tissue or such. Just getting a feel for whats real and whats out there, in terms of ins. for the cat.
( its no good saving a few bucks on the premium if the safety nets got holes in it )

I heard a great quote today.

Thanks for the welcome Cougar-Boy Ive been wandering about the halls of the cougar thread for some time but havent been very active. It and the NECO forum have been a great source of on the ground info. in a world where theres lots of puff and blow, and hard helpful info is scarsely available.

Insurance is a scandle at best of times and a good deal often relies on some obscure preference for certain customer profile by the ins. company.

In the absence of bad experiences from other posters Im floating towards shannons.

but have some time and an open mind on the subject.

Default Shannons for sure

Hi, I am with Shannons and have found them excellent, my premium is only $384 a year and thats with a $600 excess.

I have moved my jeep over to Shannons as well!

Also, my 4 year old threw a rock at the rear window of my Jeep XJ cherokee and stattered it, Shannons sent O'briens out free of charge to fix it. Now just waiting on O'briens to come out again and ACTUALLY bring the right glass, what a bunch of wa*kers!

When I was SHANNONS they were great and even insured my cat for 25k.

One day I will be rich again and I will defiantly go back to SHANNONS.

Thumbs up

Thanks for your assistance folks I did in fact go with Shannon's, and can report they're nice folks to deal with.

A month in to the contract, and an unfortunate young fellow with a few life lessons short of middle age. scuffed my front end ( deep scratches and to the bonnet bumper and RH headlight ) as he tried to make his way through a chicane a bit quicker than physics would recommend. the young fellow was driving a Silvia 89 without rego or even plates/ unroadworthy/ uninsured and not even his car but a brothers friend or some such. to many anomalies for me to gather any reliable details so had to call the boys in blue to help me out.

I am pleased to say Shannon's were just great.

I rang the claim in at 8pm and was informed by 8:30pm ( 30 mins) that my claim was approved with no excess and no effect on my rating1.

I asked them to recommend a repairer and they refereed me to the local BMW specialist. within 4 days the job was done. I have no idea what the cost of repair was ( a matter for the repairer and Shanon's to sort out ) but was told that the new headlight was worth $1590 trade and the bumper respray of alone was worth $500 ish (glad I'm wasn't paying)

I'm now not only a "car enthusiast" but also a "Shannon's enthusiast."

Not so many active NSW members anymore these days... but I try to pop in from time-to-time. Insurance ain't so great here. But there's nothing else I'd rather be driving so it's a necessary evil, and it keeps going up.

Unfortunately it's probably due to young hoons in their bogandores and whatever stuffing it up for the rest of us. It certainly doesn't have anything to do with the Cougar's appreciating value.

Welcome to the forum though! Not many green Cougar's here (if any!)

Dan
