hey guys, just got the AU Fairmont Cluster into Diagnostics mode (After 5th Attempt), and i have to say that its great. Doesnt show to much more than i can already see in the fairmont, but does show some stuff that makes it interesting anyways.
I got the instructions & Details of what each feature is of www.fordmods.com , but does anybody have any further information on what the extra features / readouts are. According to it, and my previous calculations, my speedo guage is about 4 or 5km/h over what i am actually doing and the tacho is also out around 150-250 revs, but thats ok. The best thing i have come accross is the Litres used since last L/100Km reset. You go along smoothly and it slowly ticks over, but get up it and it bloody ticks over real quick. Best economy measure i have come accross so far, see it flying up you tend to lift the left foot a bit. Anyways, just thought i would see if anyone else has any more info on the readouts. (See http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=34 for instructions and readouts.)

When you do all of these steps to get the diagnostic mode how do you:
a) scroll up/down and select the function you want. b) will it stay permantly on your dash after you exit the mode or do you have to stay in the diagnostic mode for the special features to work. c) will there be any faults with the car if I mess with these functions.

b)yes, to go back to normal mode you will need to hold the odo button for 11 secs c)nothing at all wont harm anything When you get into this mode you will see the screen go blank, then it will flash "ford" if you press the button again, it will show all icons on screen, then press again and it will show the different modes, 1-19. |

I'm starting to think that you can't get into diagnostics with the police cluster.
I tried it on my mrs au2, no problems at all. got in first time, nearly every time. But when I try it on my XR I can't get it to work. I'm nearly betting that because its (OPT20) with the police cluster instead that I can't access the feature. Probably not unless I were to take it back to Ford to get them to turn the police mode off.
