Cat pee smell!!!

Urgghh!! Got in the SV8 this morning (it sits in a carport) and the inside of it stinks of cat pee!!?? I can't see anything obvious on the outside, but the only place I thought it mght of had a chance on smelling up the inside would be the windscreen and it running down into the plenum chamber? I've hosed that out and it still smells inside. When I get home from work tonight I'll give the car a good clean inside and see if that helps.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of the smell?

[ BTW: I think I'll be getting a trap from the local council .. ]

My parents old AU had a cat pee on the back seat when it was fairly new, they tried everything & couldn't get rid of the smell, was the worst on a hot day. It's even harder for you as you don't know exactly where it is..

Go to the supermarket and buy a bottle of "nilodour". It comes in a small bottle and you just put a couple of drops on your carpet.Don`t go crazy with the stuff. Less is more!

Should get rid of the smell - May need to put a couple of drops in everyday for a week or so.

nilodour is everywhere, but generally very small bottles (only ever need a couple of drops) carefull not to put it on upholstery, it stains. What mum used to do what put some on a cotton ball, then hang it with a safety pin and have it dangling in front of an air vent, replace weekly.

I thought holdens smelt like cat pee though? Are you sure your hayfever hasn't recently cleared up and you're just smelling it now?? j/k =D

we had the same problem with our magna, turned out it was A/C gas leaking and not cat pee

The Holden sits in the carport next to the Falcon ute .. if they've started spraying on one the other won't be far behind :(

I'd be checking other causes first.

Cats don't make a habit of peeing on plastic or metal surfaces.

I lived in a share house with cats once. The stink was disgusting. One day about 3 years after I left I went for a walk and it was quite a chilly day so I digged around in my clothes to find an old beanie. Everything was fine until it started to drizzle. I started to smell something a bit odd. It got worse and worse until I realised the f#*@ing cats had ****ed in my beanie and it was now being reconstituted and was running down my face.

Check it is jnot the AC condensor in the car, when they are on the way out they really smell like cat pee.

Why post up anti-cat rubbish?? There are many people who dont understand, or want to understand cats. Its so easy to just resort to persecuting them instead of their owners who dont know to keep cats either in a cat run or inside, instead they let them roam around at night.

And get a dog to keep the neighbours awake at night with the barking. Great!! Many owners shouldn't have dogs either, as they dont look after them properly.

Read my post again. Its the irresponsible cat owners, dont blame the cat.

We have two cats, the birds are at home nesting in the yard without any threat from our cats whatsoever. And our cats dont pee anywhere except the litter tray.

Its most probably a leak in your air conditioner we had a leaky tx valve took cap off and could see it was leaking and we had thought the smell was some sort of animal urine is your air con working well .

Friends I visit had a tomcat that sprayed everything was very annoying, they got the cat desexed and it stopped doing it. How the cat is managing to pee inside your cabin is perplexing. I assume you are not leaving your windows down to let the cat in. On a slightly unrelated subject I had a disgruntled neighbor that found it amusing to put labrador poop down the vent intake behind the windscreen in my car (vents open etc and blows smell in) I would get the hose and blast water down in that area and see if the smell goes away, if so possibly someone is putting dirty cat litter down your vent intake. (ew)

well its been raining non stop up here for the past two days, your feet get wet, hop in the car and the carpet gets wet..leave it to sit overnight all locked up and it stinks like cat pee in the morning..hopefully the smell goes away lol

It works, not cheap at $22 per bottle but it's better than the smell!!!

I have a bad smell coming from the vents once I turn the A/C button off and leave the fan (recirculate) going. The smell disappears once I turn the A/C back on. I'm pretty sure it's something in the vents. Is that a sign of a dodgey condensor?

My feet don't smell that bad :P
