Hi all
1984 Ford Laser 5 door hatch 1.5 litre auto with only 6000 km's That's right 6000 genuine km's for a 25 year old car. This one owner car belongs to my mother-in-law who just stopped driving a couple of years after getting the car. It is in brand new condition having always been garaged and looked after by my F-I-Law. I drive this car a couple of time a year each time I visit Melbourne and it still drives perfectly. The only reason for sale is that my mother-in-law has had to go into a nursing home and her house has been sold, so there is now nowhere to keep this great car. This is effectively a brand new vehicle which has just gained 25 year old vetran status. My problem is I have no idea what it is worth. It is not a classic car, but it is certainly unique for a car of its age with only 6000 K's on the clock. Let me know what you reckon? |

If your lucky 2 donuts and a packet of crisps.....
Honestly best bet is trying to sell it as an L or P plate car personally maybe if your lucky get $1,000 but wouldn't hold my breath

I wouldn't give up 2 donuts for an old Auto Laser
Seriously though, You really need to find somebody who both, knows the history of the car, and needs/ wants that sort of vehicle, even then at best it would be lucky to be worth more than $1,500. The sad truth is that it is currently a buyers market, when a 6 year old Falcon in excele condition is lucky to get 6K, then a 25 year old Laser is not going to be worth much at all. Yes the Kms are low, but it is still a 25 year old car, most people would rather go for a Corolla or something that is about 10 years younger, even if it does have another 120,000kms on the clock.

Daughter in-law picked up a 89' Laser Wagon auto with 45,000k's on it and got it for $1500 with a RWC. Its immaculate. 6000k's wouldnt be much differnet. Thats a lot of short driving trips and possibly be in worse condition than a well kept book serviced 150,000k car.

I don't reckon you'd get much more over market value, there isn't much of a market for 25yr old 4cyl cars outside of learners and P platers.
