Default Ford Forums not working in certain countries?

I posted a while ago that AFF does not work in Vietnam.

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...hlight=vietnam

AFF also does not work in South Korea.

The 'fix' seems very simple, and requires some extra characters of code added to the sites HTML.

A msg sent by a friend to "Contact Us" earlier in the month was not answered regarding this problem.

It may be seen as nit picking, but I wonder how many other countries AFF does not work in??

It would have been nice to access the site while I was away.

If admin is interested in the info I have regarding the fix, please let me know.

Jason

I know I'm not answering the question, but it worked in Peru, Chile and Bolivia last September.

It possibly has less to do with the site itself, and more to do with internet censorship in certain countries.

In China it worked on and off, but in India I had to go through the server in Singapore/USA and then I could access AFF.

Did 4trips to China last year and will have more in 09.
I head south past Wenzhou and can't get on aff at all (big withdrawals as my stays are min 8days), not that I go to many forums but no probs getting onto 2 other sites.
When I do try aff from their I get Fedora ? page, saying theirs issues getting to this site blahblah, have forwarded this onto the admin here my first 2 trips but never heard anything.
No big deal fellas I know you have work on but be nice to get to the bottom of this as I will be back and forth behind the red curtain.
I have heard the Gov are behind what can and cannot be searched but buggered if I know.

I had the same issues when I went to Europe, AFF blocks some countries due to the large amounts of spam coming from them. Funnily enough though I could still get on here from Prague, yet I couldn't in Berlin or Amsterdam.

AFAIK using a proxy server will solve this

I was in Xuzhou for a couple of days and I could get it there but it was an on and off affair. Cant remember if I could get it in Shanghai or Kunshan.

Ok... So when you say it was 'blocked' or 'not working' how does the page not show?

Does it just say not found?? This is what I get:

I have been to China, and many countries throughout Europe / Asia. When I was in China even hotmail was very hard to get onto at times.

Regarding the proxy server. This is correct, I found a site that did allow me to access AFF, however I could not log in unless I paid a fee.

From what I can see, the page is not blocked. There is a Fedora information page that explains exactly the problem I have had, and the fix.

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ServerTestPage

If someone is willing to try and fix the page, I can ask friends in Korea to see if it worked.

Cheers,

Jason.

I doubt it. Read the link I posted earlier.

Why am I seeing the Test Page?

When you attempt to visit a website and encounter this page, it indicates that the owner of the website you are visiting has not configured that website. They have installed the web server software on a system equipped with Fedora, but haven't finished setting it up. Fedora Project is not responsible for that website and cannot correct the issue. If you can track down the owner of the website, you can ask them to fix the problem.

Why am I seeing the Test Page?

If you are the owner of a Fedora web server, and you are seeing the Test Page when you visit your site, it means that your configuration is incomplete. You will see this message anytime you do not have an index page in your document root. By default, the document root is /var/www/html, but your configuration could point to anywhere on the system.
How can I make this page go away?

To remove the page, you have two options. You can place a directory index in your document root, such as an index.html in /var/www/html, or you can disable the Test Page in your server's configuration. The latter can be done by commenting out the lines in /etc/httpd/conf.d/welcome.conf.

Hey au3xr6. Do you have anything further to that?? I spend 2-3 months OS each year and would like a page saved in my favourites for future use should it happen again.

Cheers,

Jason

I'm wondering, would using 'opendns' DNS servers fix this for OS browsers?
