Hi guys.
I have pedders sportryder springs all round, with standard shocks in the back and pedders shocks in the front.. I'm happy with the level at the front, but the rear sits a bit high.. I want to get superlow springs for the rear, but i'm not sure if they will be lower.. Anyone had any experience with pedders shocks and superlows? Which is lower? Will it sit lower with superlows instead of pedders? Will the ride quality be bad with standard XR8 shocks with the superlow springs? Cheers, Yagz |

The pedders shocks only make a difference to the height at the front.
It *should* sit lower with super lows in the back, but as has been said in the other thread, the super lows seem to vary greatly from car to car. I can't really comment on ride quality, though. My guess is it will be quite soft and comfortable. As long as it's not too soft... |

Fill it with fuel to lower passenger side, spare wheel to lower drivers side.

I've been in one car with Sportsryder's in the back, and the ride was so shit, it was like the shocks were siezed. Apparently it gets worse with people in the back too. The guy ended up fitting Comfort Ryder shocks.
I've heard more than one story confirming this too.

Hmm, that's interesting...
I've never had any complaints about how my car rides (quite the opposite in fact!). Maybe some of the people who have ridden in the back of my car could comment? |

u 100% they superlow? and surely by now they've "relaxed" and are at there normal height. i think shocker has something to do with it, screwed ones will sit lower but better ones will sit higher

Mate, i have Standard shocks, and superlows.. i cant WAIT to get my new shocks for the rear, as the ride is terrible.
Handles like a feckin dream, but the ride is crap. (I am trying to get close to the Standard EL GHIA ride , with going as low as I can , Difficult i know, but this is what i demand) . I have taken out the rear superlows at the moment, as the car is going back for some warranty work. But within the next few weeks i hope to get some new shocks for the rear. As for ride hight with standard shocks, you saw how low mine sits at the rear Depending on what shocks i go for the rear, it probably wont sit as low as it does at the moment, but that dosnt worry me. Better off having a nicer ride. (Will still be dumped tho :P ) "GOTTA BE!" I have superlows in the front and standard shocks in the front as well, and yours sits lower @ the front. So id say pedders shocks with superlows would be pretty good! Last edited by Stevo; 15-01-2005 at 01:53 PM. |

So yeah, ive been hoping no one spots the car around at the moment, as its sitting at the same hight as when i bought it. (Tickford springs, standard shocks)
Ive just been waiting for someone to say, "I spoted this yesterday, looks much lower in the photos tho" hehe : |

Yeah, I have an EL. I fitted sports rider 30mm lowered front struts and factory springs in the front, but went for comfort rider in the back and 45mm lowered springs. It rides nicely, much better than factory.. im waiting til i fit my wheels b4 i lower any more.
The only thing to watch with soft shocks, and lowered springs is that when you load the car up you may end up on the bump stops. |

My car doesn't ride too well, although its better with Monroe GT Gas shocks now. Handling is OK, but it still understeers more than i'd like, and gets quite bad rear steer at times. If I bounce on the towbar of my car, it goes down really easily about an inch, then the spring rate either firms right up, or it hits the bumpstops. Does anyone here know if a company makes off the shelf lowered springs for the rear of Falcons that aren't variable rate?? I reckon that would help with the ride of most Falcons on here.

Yeah, my EL understeers quite badly. I fitted Dunlop 300e tyres, which have helped a lot both dry and wet.
Did you guys fit front camber kit when you lowered your fords?? I didnt when i lowered mine, although I was told if i go lower will have to. (only 30mm lwr at front currently) You make an interesting point Aaron re the springs. I will do some searching. |

Lovells have a great .pdf catalogue. It gives a full run down on spirngs, rates, etc. They make linear and variable rat springs, depending on vehicle application.

I've got the camber kit in (definately neccessary), but i think it needs adjusting, as you can see the massive amount of camber without even measuring it...
I was recently told that due to the rear of the car being lower than front, my castor will be up shit creek. Even if it is level with the front, that's not the angle that the factory intended the car to sit at, and so it's not just my camber that's out atm, but the castor as well. Anyone know if that's the case?

Yeah i got the lowered front struts, paid bout $250 each from memory. But if i want to go lower im not sure how, as if i put in 30mm springs it will then be 60mm lower, which when i fit the 17"s will definately scrape.
