so it begins- i have started working on...well, ok, modding the sprint. first i yanked out the cruddy old tape player to make way for the kenwood headunit i had in the au. (I shouted the au to a nice new mp3 player). just gotta mod the mounting brackets and she's ready to go in. after re-soldering some of the speaker wires i now have 4 working speakers woohoo! : .
next up is the thermo fan upgrade, first i needed to remove the old clutch fan and shroud...well after much swearing and cursing, and a snapped file later i got the old fan out. as a bonus, i did find out what the dead rat smell was in the engine bay, funilly enough it was------- dead rats. looks like the engine had been started suddenly and two rats got caught up in the fan, sprint 2 - rats 0. the new fans really neaten up the front of the engine bay and means changing a drive belt will be so much easier. so now i need to buy the wiring, fuses and bits and peices and she'll be good. i will get photos sometime soon, it was too dark by the time i finished on sunday. so that's the update for now.

i got some piccies today-
first up this is the new kenwood head unit i put in the Au, gotta love ISO plugs , had it installed in about 5 minutes. has a front USB input and i-pod socket- 4Gb usb stick = tons of tunes : which then meant i hade the old unit to put into the sprint. we bought this back when we had the Eb, and this is the 3rd car it's been in, good investment hey?

now for the thermo fan upgrade, first the before photos-
after much, much cursing the fan and shroud eventually came away opening up the front of the engine bay considerably- i also found some former occupants, that met an untimely and very swift end Sprint 3- local rodents 0!!!! So this is how it should look once it's all finished, For now the fans are just sitting in place, and i need to persuade the au intake to sit a bit better- at the moment it just misses the power steer pulley. now all i have to do is sort out the wiring and thermo-switch location, and hook it all up....sounds easy if ya say it fast!

Ok, so I couldn't resist one more pic of my new stereo at night, so here-
Ain't she pretty??? As for the plastic cover, no it won't be going back on. the thermos mount up in the same location, so the shroud can't be put back on. funnily enough i didn't consider eating the rats :
