Does anyone know how to remove rear struts on a ford cougar? Tried couple of popular suspension repairers and they couldnt find a way to remove them. Even pedders couldnt help. Dealer is the only option now. Can anyone post the R & R procedure for rear struts?

Hey Mark, you are a legend man.... all Melbournian dealers and suspension repairers are num nuts. They all are *ked. Sorry to abuse but even the dealer has refused to do it. Am a mechanic and I work on all kinds of European cars. Its just that I couldnt dare to risk anything. If you look at page 27, the two 10mm bolts holds the strut to the chasis which is unusual. Normally its the top strut nut that holds the struts in the tower like the front ones. I thought of taking them off, but I thought how is it possible to hold the whole sturt with such 2 small bolts. If I undo them and bend the bracket then I will be in more trouble. I will end up with no car to drive to work. And I dont have garage to work at home. I have to work in my work shop. So couldnt dare to undo those 2 bolts. I got the R & R procedure from VACC and trust me if you follow that you will never get the strut out. Because according to that you have to undo the top strut nut first which is impossible with out taking off the 2 10mm bolts from the bottom which holds the bracket and strut. Anyway, its very helpful Mark. I appreciate your help. I will post my car's pic in the gallery. Check it out. Thanks again.

Do you know where can I buy the Diode which looks like a fuse and sits in the fuse box under the bonnet in the ford cougar. There are 2 of them, one for reverse current protection and the other for A/C.

Is it possible to program Cougar's blank key using Snap on or Launch scan tools. I only have 1 key left now. So cant program it with in the car. Or is there an other way to code the key?

Yoga I would think any auto electrician would be able to help you with something like that maybe not OEM but a suitable equivalent.
Do you drive an Eibach??? Do you have pics??? |

I ve tried few including Jaycar... and none have them. And the key, I can get it coded from dealer but like I said I work at an European car specialists and we have some tools, so wondering there might be a way or update for those tools to be able to code the key. Looks like I have to take day off to get the diode and key coded from the dealer. Anyway, I drive an Eibach and I do have the pics. I will post them soon. They were taken in high resolution and I think, I have to shrink them to post here.
