Default 2-stroke AU Fairmont. Remedies??

My AU has started burning oil - you can smell it from the exhaust, the exhaust is smokey and last change only 3.5 litres came out. Anyone used the Wynn's/Nulon engine treatments with any luck? I realise a full rebuild (or replacement) is probably on the cards at some stage, but in the meantime, I'd prefer to get the car back to 4-stroke fuels if I can - even if that's just for 6 to 12 months.

I just put that stuff into my daughters Magna last week, it seems to be doing the job for the moment I didn't see ant smoke being blown out when she left my place this arvo. she knows it needs the rings done but the money always wins in the end.

cheers

Thanks whiskers. I think I'm off to Supercheap for some engine stop smoke!

Also try using 30W40 or 30W50 oil. The higher viscosity will reduce smoke and emissions in a worn engine.

yeah stop using that shitty penrite stuff
start using something with some actual protecting qualities
quick test: grab some cheap and thick GTX2
20W50, perfect for a worn I6 on LPG
tell us how it goes

I thought you wanted to loose compression JC, then add a little boost????
Perfect opportunity for the engine to be rebuilt with a couple of extras, as I'm sure they come under the maintenance only agreement - as it is preventative maintenance!!

Hey mate,
What worked for me was tobuy 2 bottles of engine flush (arguable kero) 1 friction proofing, 1 cheap oil, 1 new oil filter, and go up a grade on good oil from 10/30w to Gtx3 15/40w.
Dumped one bottle of engine flush into engine and got up to operating temp with GENTLE drive, dump oil, refill with cheap nasty and another bottle of flush, repeat gentle drive and then drain and replace oil filter put in new "good" oil and bottle of friction proofing (Arguably oil thickener).
You will be surprised how dirty the cheapie oil gets with all the accumulated gunk.
Worked for me now oil consumption in check and lasts between oil changes without needing extra (every 10k)

Thanks - will monitor it and change oil in 5000km and see what's what.
