Default Starter Motor Noises

hey all,

Not sure how to describe this, but my xr8 has developed an interesting rattle.
Its only when ya first hit the key, soon as she starts i think its the starter motor, kinda makes a noise like someone spinning a dry bearing or something. I had one guy suggest it could be the bushes are dry. Is it worth pulling this starter apart or just buying a new one ($140). Keeping in mind the car has done 203,000km now

sounds like the problem i had with my au3 xr8, its the starter motor not disengaging when the engine starts quick enough because the mechanism is sticking. i think its caused by dust from clutch wear. i unbolted the starter and basically shock the dust out of the mechanism. has worked for a couple of months but does it somethine now. not sure whether its meant to be lubricated with a dry lube or just be dry. hope this helps.
