look through the pics here for some real numbers.

I don't care what he bought it as, but it's not a GT. The add states buyer needs to satisfy himself of authenticity so he is obviously doesn't know.

Just calling a spade a spade.

This car would make a good prop for the new mad max movie just add wheels and running gear and leave the rest as is what a rat rod

Stefan, i agree that it is way too straight and neat to be factory stamps--- i have never seen one that good or neat-( i think some old guy who didnt care had the job of stamping the VIN numbers)!-- but as for the G why is it the give away?

No wonder they are worth the money they are... the first obvious one is the motorsport history...

Then you need 60 mintues, Ray Martin, Ford Forums, The Herald-Sun, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Australian and Jana Wendt to verify it for you or hope your Dad handed it down to you... Or just cut out the middle man and get one that has noted history. I know what I would be doing...

No wonder they are worth so much money. The hassle to me just isn't worth it.

because the genuine g is squarer than the one on the xy. if you look at the genunine ones they almost have a straight edge on the sides, wheras the xy one is more rounded

As far as heat damage goes, just looking at the available pics I dont think it would have been hot enough to create to many problems...discounting the sealer between the panel joints though...I remember watching an old school panel beater repair the warped and rippled panels of an old Ford Pilot that went through a barn fire, he had the Oxy/Acet and a bucket of cold water and rags, it took him ages but he had her as straight as a die by the time he finished....

Maybe so...however didn't the Ford Pilot have a separate chassis??

if so ,the body shell acts as a brace against the chassis working together to
achieve the desired strength

in the "GT" the whole shell is the chassis, and therein lies the problem....

As I said... "just looking at the available pics I dont think it would have been hot enough to create to many problems"...

...and from the "available" pics I can't see to much warping/rippling of the bodywork, obviously the potential buyer would need to check this out themselves....my point is just because the car has been engulfed in flames does not mean it's a write off....

Lots of amateur metallurgists here using low grade pictures to apply their analytical skills......

There's still lots of scalded paint and grease on parts of the car so it can't of got too hot.. :

Still.. its a mute point, if in fact its not a 54H shell...

so true as it appears that it is NOT a real GT- Will be interesting to follow the sellers feedback on e-bay on this one. I do feel for the seller if he has purchased as a genuine gt-- but im sure being a dealer he May of had some sort of an incling that it MAY NOT be a real GT???
