If thats the case it is very good.
Why dosnt ford marketing jump on this chance to show just how Aussie fords falcon is compared to Holden. Try to break some of the Football, meat pies, kangaroos and Holden cars rot. It aint slander or defanatory if its true.

Yeah Dilan but thats my point. The only way Ford will change it is via effective innovative advertising. Ford marketing really lets ford down I think.

Holden are a better seller, purely because they are a better marketer. If more people purchased cars with the heads instead of their hearts, I am sure Ford would be doing better. However when I say that, look what Holden export compared to the figures they sell in Australia. A lot of the Holdens they sell here are imports, Rodeo (Isuzu), Vectra, etc etc,. Ford export to NZ and South Africa and sell stacks of Aussie made cars in Australia as a percentage comparison.
Holden and it's many expensive varients compared to Falcon, Territory and it's varients. Add all the varients SOLD HERE IN AUSSIE LAND and I think it would be very close. . |

I think its funny that Holden, the Australian car, are the car with the least percentage of local produced material in the family car range.

Yeah forgot about a few models, so thought I'd go and count:
Holden: Imported... Barina x 3 models Astra x 9 models Vectra x 4 models Cruze Zafira Combo Rodeo x 6 models Jackaroo x 1 Locally made... Commodore x 9 models Berlina x 2 models Calais Statesman x 2 models Utes x 6 models Adventra x 4 models Crewman x 5 models Caprice Monaro x 2 models Total 57 (Excluding HPV) 25 Imported 32 Locally made Ford: Imported... Fiesta x 3 models Focus x 6 models Escape x 5 models Courier x 10 models Econovan x 3 models Transit x 7 models F Series x 11 models Explorer (Soon to be scrapped) x 3 models Locally made... Falcon x 9 Models Fairlane x 3 models Territory x 6 models Falcon Ute x 9 models 75 total (excluding FPV) 48 imported 27 locally made Now to get all the data of locally made units actually sold in Australia (excluding vehicles destined for overseas export) and the sales of imported vehicles is a harder job. How close is Ford and Holden? |

Most of the development work done on the GM V6's (old & new) has been done OS, with very little Australian input. Local suppliers are being used for some OS speced parts but the bulk of the castings are imported, Holden having sent Ion into receivership trying to get local content up. The content figure posted elsewhere are accurate, the two cars are vastly different by any measure of local content.

All this crap started with that bastard Keating and his "clever country" rubbish, especially when he decided to remove the quotas on most foreign cars, as well as lowering the tarriffs on ALL industries. Quote me on this, we will pay for our short-sightedness. Just remember, EVERY other country protects it industries, it does not stand on the front lawn with its pants down grabbing its ankles whilst wearing a sign saying "Welcome Foreigners". |
