Default 10 cars that changed the world

This is old, but still relevant.

Two Ford's in the top ten and one of them an Aussie.

Agree with the Model T, the mini and the 240Z. Maybe the XR GT started the 4 door muscle car thing. The FX was definately ground breaking for its time in this country.

That car was more Ford making a statement that they could build such a car.

Yeah, Henry was trying to buy Ferrari but the deal fell through, so Henry decided to hit them where it hurts - on the track...

I reckon the XR GT was the start of the Australian muscle car era.

It was the first GT Ford Australia made wasnt it?

I reckon that's pretty close to accurate. The Rangie started something big and was nearly 20 years ahead of the likes of Nissan and Toyota in that particular niche.

The Willys was a big one. Though I suppose not really as much a car that 'shaped our automotive landscape' as they put it, here in Aus. But that's tough to classify. For us, definately cars like the XR GT and obviously the FX.

XR GT was the first Aussie muscle car but not the first local V8. It might have been the first 4 door muscle car in the world? Not to sure. I know at the mine, the USA was focusing on 2 door bodies. And nothing interesting was coming out of europe, in terms of muscle cars.

I was just thinking, which car sparked the rice wars? Was it the Civic?

Maybe it was Dick Johnson at Bathurst in a Green Mustang

Driving up behind a turbo Bluebird or an RX7 and saying how the rice-burners really stink...
