Default 97' XR6 on EA Mpfi?

Whats a good price to pay for a Tickford XR6 head + Rocker Cover from a 1997 EL Fairmont Ghia. + Tickford EL XR6 rocker gear and cam shaft sproket, XR6 valves, XR6 valve springs, and lifters?

Im asking because im going to rebuild a 1991 EA Mpfi motor to replace my EA's tired Cfi engine. Could i use this head? or will it end up being too much trouble?

yeah but i got the EA Mpfi engine for cheap, and i can get that gear for cheap too :

Ill have a look at prices for a whole motor...

Found out they are around $1300 for a EF xr6 Tickford motor, what would i do about the ecu? get the EF one?

Personally I'd look at an AU motor even if it's a bit more of a pain to install. They are less likely to have the head gasket issue, and they are much more common than 'Tickford' E series engines. For $1400 I got a complete motor including all ancilliaries and with only 55,000 kms. The AU motor can be very easily worked to Tickford specs or beyond, and the stock ECU is fine if you install a dizzy. In either case you'd most likely need a later model radiator, thermofans etc.

The plan is to built up a good motor for boosting later on....isnt the AU motor DOHC? or is it only th BA onwards?

Im not really looking to get the newest motor installed, but have one suitable for boost...The original plan was to rebuild a EA mpfi motor with lower compression, high flow and larger injectors.

That would work, you could buy another EA engine and rebuild it while your current one is still running.

For serious boost, though, the AU motor has the strongest bottom end and the most potential for headwork.

This is the car to be worked on, not the one in my avatar......The EA mpfi motor i got for practically nothing hence why i want to rebuild it. (a mates wrecked EA)

Im not looking for crazy 300rwkw, more so a nice reliable low-boosted engine. I dont have the budget for going all out on working a new engine or anything.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life but ive decided on my course of action.
Im going to rebuild the EA engine i have spare, im still not sure if i should keep the car on gas or not.
Either i have it on all petrol and plan the tubo kit for petrol, or i keep it on gas and look at a high flow mixer/system (gas research or something).

Personally I would strongly recommend gas, the advantages include much lower running costs with current petrol prices, easier emissions compliance and simpler set-up (no stuffing around with injectors or fuel pumps).

So if i was gonig to go with a full gas turbo setup, what happens to the injectors? do they just sit there?
Also would i still need to get a full aftermarket ecu? eg haltech
I havent looked at high perfornamce gas setups, nor do i know how much it will cost.
If i was going to go with fuel if have a high output pump, with 42psi or above injectors and a full aftermarket ecu.

The turbo kit im looking at is the Snort performance dev 5 kit, the one with the 600r turbo, and ill have an intercooler aswell

I would get a AU bottom end and put a EL head on it.

The AU had better Crank and Bottom End
The EL Head had bigger stuff and flowed better.

cant go wrong

AU head had smaller ports but was of a better design so flow is similar. Unless your going to get some SERIOUS head work done, there is little point pulling the head.

May be getting too far ahead!....i have a whole stock mpfi motor i can start with dont forget!.....but the AU bottom +el tickfors head does sound good.

What about a JMM Worked head on the ea bottom end?
