G'day people,
Just wondering if any 5.0L V8 Falcons in the EB, ED range came WITHOUT an EGR valve???? And also, do I really need one? Do they make any sort of real differance? Thanks.

Nope, all EB-EL had them. AU didn't.
It makes a difference to emissions, no difference to power and it should give you better economy. The main problem is running the standard EGR plate with a larger TB/MAF. You can get it milled out or buy a bigger one I believe. |

EGR is your friend.
Basically it can replace up to 15% fuel when cruising, it reduced nitrious oxide (or something similar) and reduces combustion temps. It isn't used at WOT so as Rob said it doesn't affect power. |

It reduces Oxides of Nitrogen by reducing the combustion temp.

Fantastic, Thanks for the replys. That defianatly answers my questions.
Probabarly the only other thing i am curious about is how (and where from) the exhaust gasses are plumbed from the exhaust system? Mike

I beleive they have a little passage from one of the exhaust ports back through the manifold
