Drink driver drives the wrong way down a freeway against the flow of traffic....
Hmm oh.. don't chase him. It could end in tradgedy!

Drink driver mounts the kerb several times and almost runs over pedestrians...
Dont start a chase!!!! He could kill someone....

Drink driver weaves across all the lanes of traffic... OMG DONT CHASE HIM!!!!
Im sure he will be fine and just needs to sleep it off.

It's not as simple as you make out...but thanks for playing.
Unlike the question of pursuits, which is quite complex, this is a question of simple physics.

Under no circumstances ever will a collision between two objects moving toward each other at 100km/h be equal to a collision between one of the objects travelling at 200km/h and a fixed point even if one of the objects weighs 1Kg while the other weighs 1000 tonnes.
I have given you the link to a previous thread about this. If you actually read it you would see the flaw in your arguement.

The point I was making in this thread was that even in perfectly black and white situations, which this one is, some people will utterly refuse to accept that they could possibly be wrong and will turn it into a sometimes very emotional "winning verses losing" rampage where winning becomes the goal rather than correctly answering the question.

Thank you again for demonstrating my point so well for me.

How about its a drug dealer with 80000 meth tablet in the boot?
Since now your saying that all "minor" offences shouldnt be chased.
Hell, if I knew someone had 80,000 meth tablets in the back, the police wouldn't be the only one chasing them, $$$.

A house in suburban Springfield (Brisbane) blew up just the other day just two doors down & one behind a working member of the criminal justice system..... pretty embarrassing.

“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

OK putting attitude to one side, I can see that I'm looking at the physics the wrong way around.
Regardless of what happens to other vehicles, treat the vehicle individually
and they decelerate from 100 kph to zero.

Got it.
