Default AU1 trans leak

Hey all have a little problem with my AU1 auto trans i have a leak from the plate on the pasenger side thats shaped like a star, it has 6 star head bolts does anyone know what is behind it? dont wanna pull it of if there is something spring loaded behind it. cheers

its the servo piston cover, not hard to replace the gasket it is springloaded, but being the transmission make sure to keep everything clean.

Did mine in the BA not long ago few bucks for the gasket but it does lose a little fluid not sure how much.

Thanks heaps. will it shoot out or can you retain it somehow while you change the gasket. i really have no idear about it but would like to give it ago myself

No it wont shoot out make sure to lube o ring on the piston and have a drain tin.

Thank for your help all went well apart from when i removed the trans sump and found brass like shavings in there : i assume this is'nt normal and should start thinking about getting a new auto.

how big are the shavings, if its specs, normal wear and tear, if its bigger then 5 cent peace, not a good sign,

Posted by Xcabbi, Does it slap or rattle? Rattle is more to do with timing chains and tensioners. Slap is more to do with lifters, rings, bearings or GENIII boat anchors
