Hi everyone.

Recently bought myself another mondeo after writing off my 95 wagon back in september... after driving a daewoo for 6 months, it feels gooooooood.

Anyway, Im looking at doing some simple mods to it because if i dont, im going to be tempted to sell it and buy an old bucket like a datsun or something.

So basically, i would really like some suggestions to some tasteful mods that i could do to the mondy, such as headers/extractors, lightened flywheel, lower it, and things like that.

Its a '97 Sedan (Silvertop) but i have transplanted the '95 Silvertop from my old mondeo wagon into it as it came with an engine with a gone headgasket... trust me.. it was a pain to do.

Turbo cheap power, so many kits out there.

wouldnt i have to do shiz with the ecu and stuff so that it worked properly, or get stronger internals to deal with the extra pressure from the turbo?

also i can only find focus turbos on the interwebz, you have any links i could check out?

it all depends on how much you want to spend skys the limit but a low boost turbo kit wouldnt require you to change internals and you will find you ecu will only need flashing and possibly a light tune for a good power increase guessing i would say 30 to 40 kw and maybe extra 60 to 80 NM torque which doesnt sound much but it will make the car drive so much nicer. Google mondeo turbo kits has to be alot of people who have done it

yeah well being an impoverished uni student, im thinking that the turbo/super kits are out of my budget.

how would a new exhaust system, some cams and a cold air intake translate to power do you think? i also just want to get it nice to drive and not crazy as balls. that might come later when i save up and try grab this st24 ive been looking at

Don't take this personally, I'm not having a crack at you but ......... I wouldn't spend a cent on it; it’s a 15 year old car that was never designed as a performance car, its simple, cheap and (usually) reliable point to point transport. Trying to make a slow car fast is such a waste of money these days when fast cars are so cheap to buy. By your own admission you don't have a lot of cash to throw around so why would you waste what you do have on a 15 year old Mondeo?

However to try and answer your question;
Exhaust system = around $400
Cams = $600, labour to fit another $400
CAI = from $50 home made to around $300 or so for an off the shelf unit out of Europe

Well over $1,500 and you might (if you’re REAL lucky) pick up 10 or 15kw's

Put that money towards the ST24 and you will be able to buy it sooner. You won't get a cent back for the mods on the Mondeo.

I'm with you Paulie. I've done this and it was good for me, but it was a money pit. I have a diesel now, and as a 39 yr old with a child, my priorities are different.
$1500 was a lot of money when I was at university and still is now. In hindsight, beer and women would have been a better investment.
