Hi i'm having trouble with my esky. ive got the 1600 crossflow motor and have had pretty much constant trouble for the last few months. for a while it ran OK up to around 3000 revs then would backfire after that. i finally figured out the mechanical advance on the distrubutor was stuffed and replaced it with one off an old escort of mine. ran perfect after that for a while but the same problem seems to be coming back. il be driving along and all of a sudden itl backfire and then drop me down to around 3000 revs with barely any power at all for a while then all of a sudden comes back to life. also it is revving really really slowly with a severe lack of power. the mechanical advance doesnt seem to be stuffed on this dizzy (testing by turning the rotor button annd making sure it springs back) so im pulling my hair out to figure it out. im guessing a vaccuum problem. its got new plugs, leads, dizzy cap. carby is clean and no manifold leaks so i got no idea. also where do i take my old dizzy to get repaired? an auto electrician?
