Where to get oil pickup for Pinto in Mk1 Cortina?
I could fabricate, but would prefer to buy, but does anyone know where to get one? The standard pickup goes to the rear of sump as per later cortinas but the early cortina has sump tank at front... |

as it is a MK1 I am not that sure but if I understand what you need is a sump with the tank at the rear? if this is the case try an escort sump?
but have a read here - http://classicford.mine.nu/forum/top...TOPIC_ID=15823 |

(Ah that would be the car in question in that link actually),We not long ago fitted a 2ltr to a my brothers mk1 cortina, you need to modify the sump(front bowl) and pick up to feed from the front of the crossmember if your maintaining the stock cross member.
use an escort g/box,modify the cross member to relocate your engine mount position then use escort 2ltr mounts, you will need to make a plate up to mount the g/box as well. You will also need to fit firmer from springs and brakes as the pintos are heavy.......... then a shortened tailshaft. You wont find off the shelf extractors to suit the 2ltr a custom or moded set is your only option or stock exh manifold,we have tried 4 sets. This 2ltr mk1 is also Forsale shortly.
