Hey fellas, just lookin for some words of wisdom, i have the motorcraft alt in my series 1 and was quoted $370 odd to replace it with the Mitsubishi one and wire it up. Now on ebay i have found a brand new mitsu one for $190 and $20 for the rework kit, was wondering if anyone has done this before? Is it as simple as wiring up a plug to suit or will i need to involve an auto elec to do this for me?
thanks in advance. Last edited by GS608; 16-07-2010 at 03:52 PM. |

The Original alternator for AU is now replaced by the BA Falcon one and requires the rework kit, which is just a connector and terminals.
The changeover is pretty easy just need to get a little dirty and make sure you have the Radio code before you disconnect the battery. The Rework kit is VERY straight forward. |

Hey xr-chief, I'm up for a new alternator for my series 1. Couldn't find the alternator you're talking about, can you give me a link?

Sure thing. Here is the link to the Mitsubishi one http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....T#ht_541wt_911
I also found a place in melb that sells working motorcraft alternators with a 3 month warranty for $90 if you're keen, i'm thinking of going this route instead. |
