Default AU Alternators

Hey fellas, just lookin for some words of wisdom, i have the motorcraft alt in my series 1 and was quoted $370 odd to replace it with the Mitsubishi one and wire it up. Now on ebay i have found a brand new mitsu one for $190 and $20 for the rework kit, was wondering if anyone has done this before? Is it as simple as wiring up a plug to suit or will i need to involve an auto elec to do this for me?

thanks in advance.

The Original alternator for AU is now replaced by the BA Falcon one and requires the rework kit, which is just a connector and terminals.

The changeover is pretty easy just need to get a little dirty and make sure you have the Radio code before you disconnect the battery. The Rework kit is VERY straight forward.

Hey xr-chief, I'm up for a new alternator for my series 1. Couldn't find the alternator you're talking about, can you give me a link?

Sure thing. Here is the link to the Mitsubishi one http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....T#ht_541wt_911

I also found a place in melb that sells working motorcraft alternators with a 3 month warranty for $90 if you're keen, i'm thinking of going this route instead.
